Is this needed? If so why? I would think after the polish has dried and you remove it you should be good to go again. I am trying to cover swirl marks with many coats of zano.

well, if you used zfx then go ahead, but w/o it, you should wait a whole day

if you`re using ZFX you can put up to 3 coats on within 24 hours, but then you need to wait until the next day. This has to do with the way the zaino bonds with the surface and the layering properties. So to answer your sketchy question, yes this is necissary.

Just remember, man..... perfection takes time! Your vette is beautiful anyways, you`ll be fine. ;)

Thanks Guys

I did not use ZFX. My supplier is in phoenix and said we did not need it down here. I guess I will wait the long 24 hours between coats.

Interesting, was your dealer implying climate is a deciding factor in choosing to use Zfx?

Yes

He said because of the climate he did not even stock it.

Hi 50th. Respectfully, I don`t think your dealer may be taking into account all of the benefits of ZFX - - it is not just a curing accelerant.

I was a little disappointed when he told me he did not have it. Its to late now as I have already used z1 and have put a coat of z5 on.

Interesting, I use it to get the multiple coat application and it does have a better look. Climate is not addressed in anything I have read about it. Would disagree with him, but I am not a distributor. Not sure if that title comes with additional knowledge or not.

Looking at your 1st post, I have put none Zfx back to back just to see what would happen and my paint did not peel off.

If you want to get multiple coats going I recommend the Zfx, order it direct. I use it on my 40th, 93 with 40th on the seats not the outside logo.

I still switch back and forth to none Zfx if I want a quick coat of 2 or 5 on.

its not too late, you can use the ZFX enabled zaino over top of your existing Z1/Z5 first coat. Just order some from Sal directly. :up

oh and not using ZFX because of climate is BS - Sal tests all the products to make sure they`re compatible with any climate (well, except maybe the north pole.... Santa must still use carnauba on the sleigh. :p )

I know a few Z distribs who don`t know jack about detailing a car, they`re just brainwashed into thinking that Z is the best stuff on the planet and that their particular methods are the best.

Wow thats great to hear. I would hate to wash and start over again. My dealer seemed like he was from the old school and thought it was a waste of money. I will order it direct tomorrow.

You`ll be pleased. The directions will be for mixing 2 oz. More often then not I use 1 oz. with 2 drops and get 2-3 coats easy out of it. There has been a lot of discussion on different containers for mixing. I use a 2 oz. wide mouth container so I can get every bit out. I mark a 1 or 1/2oz mark if I want smaller amounts.

They run me $.49 and I throw them away when I am done.

What do you mix this stuff with z2? Thanks for all the info. I just read a post by shiny lil detlr about the new zaino smr. I wonder if you will have to dawn wash your car to start with the smr. I agree with his assesment of reps and their knowledge of detailing. I just remembered he was telling me to get a california dusted as it would never cause me any swirls.

Z2 or Z5 doesn`t matter. Whichever you feel like putting on, that`s one of the beauties of Z.

Tough call with the smr, since it all is compatible I will bet not.

Carguy did an experiment with the CA duster, didn`t have a problem. Just depends on what you`re taking off.

I keep my car garaged, it gets dryer lint on it. I will just let the tips of the duster touch the paint to remove the lint if I want to Z-6 her (or 2/5). The duster has only been used for the lint, once I leave the garage I always wash. Just my preference.

Almost forgot, you won`t need the Z1 again.
