Well, I bought a 7424 and ordered the CMA DM kit with the Fall discount. :D I`m lucky...I have 2 riding mowers, a Farmall tractor and my sister`s 1996 Chevy Cavalier on which to practice.

I bought a PC too, but haven`t recieved my CMA pad kit yet. I also plan to "learn" on someone elses vehicles first :p Maybe the Tractor :o

Yeah, I know I can get a 7336 sooner, but nooooooo, I wanted to do my dumb "experiment" and try all the combinations... :rolleyes: It`s beginning to cost me in terms of detailing joy, and time is running out on sunlight and warmth.

To those of you concerned about using your PC for the first time, and planning to try on lawnmowers, and the like, DON`T BE. I`m not gonna say don`t practice on something else, b.c for peace of mind, it can`t hurt.... But I laugh when I think if the first time I used my PC, with a polishing pad, SMR and on speed 1 and 2. Boy did i think I was doing well...:D
Now, I`m using cutting pads, and wool pads even with regularity....and fine cut rubbing compounds with great success. I rarely go below Speed 4, and spend most of time on #6...where you clearly get the best results for swirl removal.
Obviously everyone will go at their own pace, but don`t fret....it`s pretty easy to use...and an incredible tool for detailing!!!

4DSC, I know what you mean. I`m from Burnaby and this time of the year can be miserable. Years ago I tried to wash the car outside and then bring it in the garage, but I couldn`t work fast enough before the water would freeze up on the car. Living in the car capital of the world, our biggest concern is keeping dust off surfaces. I wonder sometimes if I would be so into detailing as I am now. Then, it was how and when would I be getting a cabin cuiser so I could catch the big one.
I`ve owned a PC now for 2years and I use it primarily for applying waxes and glazes. My best investment was the Makita rotary. I was so jazzed that I even tried polishing the kitchen counter top and range top. The results I get on my cars are just short of phenominal with the Makita.

They are so nice. You will wonder why the heck you waited so long. Very easy to use also. Although I used it on my girl`s car first;) .

As I type this, it`s sitting in my lap.
Firstly, I bought my PC7424 from Coastal and it came installed with a "USE 5 INCH PAD ONLY" lead weight. Also included was a "USE 6 INCH PAD ONLY" lead weight. I plan to swap them out and use the 6" weight.
Secondly, the Hook & Loop Contour Pad #18002 that came with the Coastal kit is branded Porter-Cable and seems more robust than the Velcro Back-up Plate that came with the CMA kit. I plan to use the pad from Coastal.

haha!! sounds just like me my first time "oh boy I hope this isnt too fast at speed 2!!" now its like "Speed 2?? Who needs it? I use SPEED 6!!" :D
