Canadian Tire is advertising a hand held steam cleaner with accessories called a Steam Shark. It`s for cleaning all kinds of surfaces.

I was thinking it would be good for detailing the inside of the car. Steam clean the vinyl, the vents, spots on upholstry and carpets, etc.

Has anyone tried anything like this? How well does it work? Do you like it?

Is THIS (http://www.buyinnovations.com/action_eq_s_product_amp_cat_eq__amp_prod_eq_129.ht ml?cms=3ca580f28a2a21ce2863126a44425499) the product they are selling? That looks kind of cool. I don`t know how much good it would do inside the car though. Maybe on the engine it would be useful. I`ve never steam cleaned the inside of a car, so I wouldn`t know really if this would work or not. Interesting idea. Kinda pricey though, yes? $119 was about the cheapest I found it. Most places were selling it for $160 or so.

That`s the same idea. The one I can get here in Canada is at: Ultra Shark Steamer (http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=560167&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=166971&bmUID=1034732988917&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=1101187&assortment=primary)

If it asks for a postal code, put H9G 1W7

I want to buy something like this in a store, where it is easy to return if I hate iit.

Taxlady,

IMO, they are a waste of money. They don`t produce enough steam to be effective and it is normally not all that hot. A mild solution of soap and water should be as effective if not more on the inside of a car. I tried the Eureka version, and found it to be a joke.

Keep in mind that steam is water. Be careful using it around any kind of electronics. Your dash has all kinds of electronic equipment behind it, so you don`t want steam going through or rising up under the dash.
