Is 3M SMR suitable to be used as a routine polish? Is it too strong?

My `routine` refers to `polishing every 6 - 12 months`, not every waxing though.

P.S. Glad this board is back. It`s a true narcotics!:D

There is no reason to use an abrasive unless you are trying to remove paint defects. You only have so much paint to work with, so removing more than necessary is a bad idea.

If you like the 3M line, use the IHG as a routine polish, and SMR when you have swirls or other paint defects. :xyxthumbs

You`ve got to think of polishes as liquid sandpaper. Most all polishes are designed to remove scratches and are equated to the scratches created by a specific grit of sandpaper.

It doesn`t matter what polish you use or how often you use it as much as it matters what the condition of the paint is and what condition you want it to be. These factors determine what polish to use and when.

Using an SMR once or twice a year is fine but realize that you are grinding off a micro layer of paint. If that`s OK with you then use what you like whenever you want to.
