Was driving and the car ahead threw a baseball size rock at my car...!...ARG...i was minding my own business too. Fortunately no dents or anything. But the rock did leave a mark right on the front bumper.

the whole blob is around 2x2 inches. When I run my finger along the undamaged paint it feels smooth, once i hit the damaged area, it feels dull, and not slick. I dont know how bad the damage is but the paint color (on the damaged area) varies from black to dull grey to a few lines of white.

What is the best way to go about fixing this? I`m a newbie at detailing but I`m willing to learn. Argh..the car`s only 2 months old too.

Thanks for all replies

From the photos I can`t really tell if it`s bashed through the clearcoat- but no matter- it`s the bumper- it`s going to suffer. I feel that it is good luck to have one blemish on your new car- it keeps away evil spirits who would be attracted to the perfection.

You can probably get that out with just some 3m fine cut rubbing compound, also sold as 3m scratch remover...

You might be able to sweet talk your dealer into buffing it out since you just bought it..

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the NY attitude and the NY temper. If someone did that to me, there would be some real problems.

It looks that might be able to come out.

1st take your finger nail and rub it down the scuff, it your nail gets caught in it, it will not be able to come all the way out.

lets start with meguiar`s scratch X and rub up & down and side to side following the mark. If you have a PC you can use that as well. If that dont work take 3m perfect III compound and your pc pc or rotatry and try to buff out.

You want to start out with the least abrasive product and work your way up to abrasive.

Just remember when using abrasive products even though you are using a pc you can still damage the paint.

good luck

Start gentle. Use some Scrath x and see what happens.
