I`ve been lurking for quite some time absorbing as much info as I can. I have decided to go the Klasse route, with p21s shampoo and wax. However, while my brand new car will get the claybar, AIO, SG, p21s wax treatment, my gf`s car is in dire need of help. I was hoping you`d help me with some info? She`s got a red `93 Honda Civic and I think the clear coat may be shot on the roof. (Think I remember seeing red on the towel last time we dried it).

Anyway, I don`t have a PC, nor do I want to buy one, and I`m trying to stay as economical as possible. So I was going to buy the p21s kit and was wondering what you thought about using the GEPC on her car, after a claybar treatment, but before Klasse? I wanted to try to get by with what I`ve already got. I was wondering if you could differentiate between AIO and GEPC? I thought they were both cleansers, although GEPC is supposedly very mild and almost like a glaze, and AIO is half cleanser, half protectant. Would GEPC`s oils be removed by AIO? Does GEPC do anything above and beyond what AIO would do? She doesn`t have bad swirl marks, but does have bad oxidation. Any (economical) suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,

If you decided to use GEPC, the order would as you know would have to be GEPC, AIO, SG. AIO would remove any GEPC oils.

I don`t think it would yield any significant improvement. You could just AIO twice if you are worried about getting the paint properly cleaned. GEPC was desis for directly under P21S, where GEPC will remove anything under it.

I would try clay, AIO, SG, then possibly P21S if you don`t want to layer the SG.

i`m in a similar situation. My sister has a 95 civic, also red, that has not seen wax since she got it which was about 3-4 years ago. the car also sits outside in out driveway in canada so the conditions are pretty harsh. Her paint feels like sandpaper and it has swirls everywhere.

i`m thinking about using AIO and SG on her car to try and bring it back to life but.....thats just more time i could spend detailing my car. i don`t think she`d appreciate it anyways. I waxed her car for her birthday and i came home from school a week later to find her washing it with dawn, in the bright sun, with a fairly stiff bristled brush. i almost cried. all my hard work washed onto the driveway. The worst part was she didn`t even dry the car.

before i put klasse on my car i thought i`d test it out on a small portion of her trunk. i used a clay bar, followed by some AIO then finished it with some SG. It made a huge difference but there was still some swirl marks. i think if you just clean the paint realy well and make sure to get rid of the swirls you should be fine.

good luck. i think i`m going to try and salvage my sisters car...just for fun...to see if it can be done

I should`ve specified, I plan on doing SG x 3 and then P21S topper. That sucks about your sister`s car. At least I`m sure she appreciated it for the week that it looked nice. Luckily (??) my gf lives with me, and I`ve already got her on the right track as far as washing her own car. However, we`ve got to get it back to looking relatively ok. I`d like to try to get the paint as clean as possible without buying a PC or lots of extra supplies. Sounds like maybe GEPC isn`t worth it if I`ve got AIO already? I`ve read other people`s posts where they use both, but is it silly?

Good luck with your sister`s car. Like some others were saying on here, sometimes the most satisfying results come from the cars that show the biggest change. Plus, it`s a good workout.

AIO can do wonders for red.

It won`t do a whole lot for the swirls though. If you still have swirls after AIO then you are going to want to hit it with a machine and some SMR or other swirl reducer. It can look awesome though when its done. :xyxthumbs GEPC may help a bit for the swirls, but if it doesn`t then you just need to step up to something a little tougher. I`ve used PPCL by hand before and if its anything like GEPC then you should be ok doing it by hand.
