What is the correct speed setting for buffing?

I read no higher than 3 or 3000 rpm. However, I see that some people in this forum take the speed all the way to the max and then start complaining about vibration.

Which one is the correct that yields the best results?

2 cars, one with Carnauba wax and the other with Klasse.

Any speed will be fine on a PC since there is no concern about burning paint. If you are applying a wax or Klasse with the PC I would use a speed of 3 and "work" the product. For removal it`s as needed. A final buff with a MF bonnet at about 4-5 produces nice results. :up

Crank that sucker up to 6 if you want to, you ain`t gonna hurt a thing with a PC unless you really try.

I do reccomend, however, that for waxing or glazes, you keep the speed at or under 3. For polishes or compounds, you can spread the product around at whatever speed suits your fancy, and then just go ahead and turn up the speed as much as you want. I use 6 for swirl removing (#9 2.0), compounding (3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound with a wool pad), or more abrasive polishing (3M FI-II). I will spread wax around (#26) at 3, maybe 2.

I`m pretty sure a statement about `no higher than...` would have been in reference to a rotary buffer, not an orbital buffer like the 7424.
