washed, clayed, SMR-ed, Zainoed, Blitzed, P21S-ed ... huh

Wanted to share pictures of my car after few weekends of detailing.



Short description of what I did are on that web-page.



Bottomline - I do really like Blitz. ( and I was Zaino follower for the last

year ). Now I have decided to leave Zaino for the winter, when frequent waxing

is not really apropriate.

Wow.. Zaino looks pretty nice topped w/ a carnauba. That shine is sooo deep, but reflective like Z. Great work!:bow

Pics look great :xyxthumbs . Once question though....you say you are leaving Zaino for the winter? If I understand things correctly Zaino, Platinum, Blackfire, etc, would be a good thing to switch to in the winter as they last longer than canaubas.



I`m thinking of switching to Platinum come this autumn then back to P21s in the spring.

Absolutely correct. Sorry for confusion - English is not my native language.



Looks like Zaino is the way to go in the winter ( when I can`t even wash my car

on steepy driveway - frozen water on steep driveway .... aarrgh ... I know what

is that. ).



BTW - interesting observation: after I applied Blitz there was only minor

difference between Blitzed half and Zainoed half. But after a week that

difference grew to such an extend that my friend made a commend that it looks

like I have different paintworks on different halves. He also liked Blitz.

As he told me, it looks so deep, that he was tempted to put hand IN there ;)



Another observation: I was applying Blitz and P21S at 7am, under the gentle

morning sun. Blitz was a breeze to buff out, but P21S turned out to be a bi.ch

I had to look at all different angles - and still have not buffed it out

properly.



Bottomline: if you are waxing outside, like me, Blitz is easier to work with.

Even easier than Zaino.



Regarding pictures: I like aspecially 4, 6, and 14. Yourself ?

I wax outside....and I can`t think of any wax that is easier to buff out than P21S. I think perhaps you let thew wax sit for too long... It`s wax on, wax off with P21S...no drying! If blitz is easier, then i`ll be trying that out next!

I don`t remember anyone saying that Blitz is easier to work with than P21S! I think you need to buff it off right away or within a minute or so at the most.

Ok - the trick with Blitz is - apply it using instructions for P21S :)



Some people wait for Blitz to dry ( 1 hour to overnight ). Instructions on the

can are saying - 15 minutes max. I was wiping it off immediately after

applying on half of a panel. First with cotton terry towel, then MF.

Much easier comparing to letting it dry for 15 minutes ( tried it too ).



The morning sun was warming up black paint a bit, and maybe P21S had enough

time to start drying while I was finishing applying it. Blitz did not have that

problem whatsoever. Only one drawback with Blitz was small amount of white dust

( the more you let it dry - the more dust you will get ).



P21S let me understand what other autopian meant talking about "buffing like a

champ" :) And proved me that I do need at least one MF bonnet for final pass on

P21S wax.

:confused: Wierdness. Maybe try buffing the P21S sooner and applying it to smaller sections. You don`t have to apply much, and it doesn`t really take that long (especially if the air or paint is warm) to start drying, and then it puts up a fight.



Most people say P21S about as easy to use as PPG and Souveran.

Ouch. P21S is not a wax that you let dry. The instructions on the can say to let it simply go to a light haze then buff. I found like Olek that it is a real bear to remove it it is too dry. I can only do about 2 X 2 square foot areas with the stupid applicator that they supplied. Very easy to remove if not left too long. Without a doubt it is the easiest wax I`ve used to apply and remove if done properly.



I would never consider applying P21S in the summer sun, even in the morning. It is the worst wax to remove once it gets baked on.

Sleeper ? Yes - not many people know under that buick is actually restyled

Thanks. And that is 4 years old car that was not garaged for 99% of his life.



Well - I should be honest - these are the best photos I was able to get ( I

have selected them from 100 photos ;) ) In real life it does not looks as nice.



Now if I only was able to get rid of dozens of those chips all the way around

:( Nice wet glossy finish is unforgiving and shows every single chip and

scratch. Well, I have already got Langka, 2000 grit sandpaper, rubbing

compound, sanding pen, black touch-up, clear touch-up .... 90% isopropyl

alcohol for removing wax (will it eat Zaino?). Just need to put whole lot of

labor in there.





BTW - tried to put second coat of P21S this morning ( under the same contitions

- morning sun). This time I tried to apply it faster and skipped terry towel

part - just strait MF. It was much easier - well - Blitz is still slightly

easier to use under the sun.



Now - when I have got 2 coats of Blitz on one side, and 2 coats of P21S (

actually S100 - I do not understand why I have to may $10 more just for label)

- I do not know which one I like more. P21S have more "glossy liquidy" look,

and shows imporfections of paint more (optical clarity ?), and Blitz have

darker look that seems to hide very minor imperfections. Or maybe it is just

that my driver side is more damaged that passanger ?





Anyway - I like both waxes and do recommend both of them to anybody.

And it seems that when applied properly ( thin layers ) that cans are

gonna

last long long time.



Somebody help me ! I can`t stop waxing ! And it feels so nice, massaging

that

creamy wax into beautiful slick black body :)

Question to everybody:



why difference beetween different products is not visible at all on gorizontal

surfaces (hood, roof, trunk) but is VERY visible on vertical (on doors and

fenders) ?
