Hey guys, I have a black car that is "fading." I`m not really sure what`s going on but the body shop I talked to I think is trying to rip me off. The car is a 1999 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. The paint appears "faded" when dry and obviously shows spots and dust very easily. When the car is wet from washing it or from applying wax it looks new and good again. There are a circular scratches in the clear coat. Could this be just strictly a clear coat problem. The guy at the body shop says I need a new paint job but the paint on the car he showed me looks worse than mine, I feel like new clear coat would fix it since it looks good when freshly washed or waxed. Also, the tires are painted black and they are definately fading in the paint, would spray paint look good on the police rims or totally tacky? Any ideas on a cheap way to refresh my car and rims? Thanks for your help in advance!!!!

Sounds like oxidation. Order some Poorboys SSR1 & SSR2. Followup with EX-P. Should fix the problem.

I`d use the Poorboys line up they can be used with great results by hand. Start with SSR line up (steve can help with this just call) Then Polish with carnuba you can stop here but to keep it from fadding quickly again use a sealant.
