Clear Coat or Not!?

I`m a fairly new member and have been hangin` in the shadows for a while, so I hope that this is the correct area for this thread.



Here`s my issue...



I am buying a new Black Toyota Sequoia in a couple of months and have heard a rumor that Toyota DOES NOT use clear coat on some of their colors (Black being one).



Can anyone confirm this? If so, why not!?

It`s easy enough to check. Get some polish and rub it onto a painted part of the car. If the basecoat color comes off on the rag, you don`t have clearcoat. If no color comes off you have clearcoat.

I bought my wife a 2000 Toyota 4Runner Highlander. It definitely has a clear coat on it. Hope it helps..
