I did a search, and have question between two models. I am leaning towards the 3hp, BradB recommended (http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summary/productsummary.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0738786025.102 5670696@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccekadcfiimfflgcehgcemgdffmdfin.0&vertical=SEARS&bidsite=&pid=00917757000), because the store has it in stock and BradB recommends it. I have questions about the car (http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summary/productsummary.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0738786025.102 5670696@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccekadcfiimfflgcehgcemgdffmdfin.0&vertical=SEARS&bidsite=&pid=00917768000), which I found on the Sears website, and looks very similar and comes with attachments.

Has anyone use the car vac? Does anyone know the amp rating for the motor of the car vac model? How loud are eithe rof vacs? Should I buy ear plugs while @ the store? Are bags and alternative filters available for these vacs? Who makes the vacs for Sears? The car vac is rated @ 3hp.

BradB do you get a commission from Sears for everyone you sell.

I have the car vac, it looks like the one in your picture except it is black and is 3HP also, I think it is the same one as the link you posted except Sears calls it their "car line" product. Its not that loud.

I have the Crafstman 5.5hp, 16gal and it does a great job.

You can reverse it to a blower too. Nice for "dry" work like getting sediment out of crannies in the engine bay.

I have the 2 gallon Stinger wet/dry vac. its only 1.5 hp but I only use it for picking up water and as a blower. now it comes with a paper bag filter that goes on top of the motor to protect it when u do dry pickups. When I use it as a blower you think its necessary to have the filter on?

Craftsman club days run through the 13th I believe. If you join the club, at no cost, you can get 10% off the lowest marked price right now.
