I spent the weekend detailing my 1995 M3 with 100k miles on it and wanted to show off the results.

Of course, its pouring rain here in Austin, TX but that was a good excuse to work from home today (you know its bad when you telecommute because you don`t want your freshly detailed car to get dirty in the rain).

The process I used was the following:

1) Dawn wash

2) 3M Finesse-IT II to get rid of some minor scratches (used Random Orbital to buff)

3) 3M IHG to fill in what scratches couldn`t be removed. Did this step by hand, IHG doesn`t seem to like the orbital for some reason, it would haze or cloud, but if I did it by hand it would polish out nicely. Any ideas?

4) Blitz 1Grand all around (used Random Orbital to buff)

You can also see my recently sold Nissan here (where I followed the same procedure):

Looks great....Blitz is my second favorite wax. What did you use on your trim!!....On the second picture I saw a few white spots

are there scratches? I liked the one that you were probably laying on the ground to take

I still need to go over the car again to get rid of some wax buildup around some of the trim.

I haven`t done anything to the black trim yet but will probably use a bit of Viynlex (sp?)

It sure feels like Oregon here (where I grew up) right now, vs what its normally like in Austin during this time of the year.

Awesome job!! Like JeffBruce, I was curious about the trim as well, because it looks so well detailed. I normally use 303 on the trim before using Blitz, but I still get a little bit of staining on them. Maybe next time I`ll use painter`s tape. The staining issue is Blitz`s only downside. Other than that, it`s one of my favorite waxes......I love the deep, wet shine it provides. I only hope my bimmer will look as good as yours when it hits 100K!

... for the black strip at the midship of the car just for kicks. I have no idea if it will last in the weather or the sun, but it made for a pretty picture :-) I only did it on that strip surrounding the middle of the car ...
