Injured Clear Coat Maintenance

I had a bird dropping that not only stained, but also etched a spot on my hood. I nearly have the stain out, but does anyone recommend a good cleaner that will take all of the stain out without hurting the soft undercoat?



Also, once I get the stain out, is there a particular product that I can use that will help protect the area that no longer has clearcoat coverage?
