Last week some vandals decided to use my wing mirror for football practice. They broke all the glass, broke the mounting bracket inside the mirror so it was literally hanging off, and managed to put a nice few scratches on the casing.

I managed to replace the glass, and glue the mounting bracket inside the casing back together. Still a bit loose but better then paying $300 for a new wing mirror.

Anyway, does anyone know how to get rid of the scratches on the casing. It`s not metal, but thick black plastic (matt finish). I was thinking of trying P21S Restorer Polish ? Any ideas ?

thx

Are the scratches deep enough to feel with your fingernail?

They don`t appear to be.

They are more like scuff marks.

Your`e in luck. Try a mild rubbing compound like 3M Perfect-It (http://www.properautocare.com/3mperrubcom.html) or Eagle One Scratch Remover (http://www.properautocare.com/2052605.html). Both products work great. Brand is not important, just make sure it`s a fine grit compound.
