Ok... stupid question... I don`t own a PC but I`m considering buying one. Why exactly does a PC NOT introduce swirl marks onto the paint finish like rubbing a towel in a circular pattern will? It spins in a circular pattern really fast right?

A couple of reasons:

1. PCs use an orbtial motion rather than circular, so you avoid many swirls.

2. Machines allow the product to work the paint surface and when you have cutting compounds the action breaks then into finer sizes.

3. Easier for average person to get the right pressure using a PC than by hand.

4. PCs are so consistent, they will do the same job day in and day out.

Most swirls come from improper washing and drying techniques....Swirls can happen anytime something touches the paint....

PC when used on clean paint with clean pads and clean product should not swirl anymore than doing something by hand with clean paint, clean pad and clean product.

The PC just moves faster then hand so it is worth while when using abrasive products since they require more motion to work and remove swirls etc....
