Hello Everyone,

I own a Dewalt rotary #849. I recently purchased a Hook & Loop backing plate and some 8" pad`s from Top Of The Line for my rotary. My question is, Can i use these pad`s with my Porter Cable #7424 with a 6" backing plate and 6" weight, without having any major problems?? The Hook & Loop velcro backing plate that Top Of The Line sold me was a 7 1/2 plate, The pad`s on the velcro side are 7 1/2. When i place the pad`s on the backing plate, the plate is real close to the outside of the pad. This is sort of scarry because it is so close. They say it is an 8" pad, Yes on the outside.. Question #2: Would i be better off getting a smaller backing plate for the rotary?? I was just wondering if i could use these pads for both units?? Thanks,

EZ Boy

The Edge website has the correct backing sizes for the PC and DW849 or similar tools. I read it there somewhere just the other day.

The pads can be used with the 6" backing plate on the PC 7424 but larger pads will not rotate like smaller ones. There is just too much contact to the surface. If you didn`t have any other pads they will work. Some people seem to like 8" pads on the PC but I much prefer 6 - 6.5" pads.
