OK. Given the research I`ve done and the varying opinions, I`ve made the decision to go with Klasse and carnuba on my new Venetian Red Volvo.

My question is that given that it`s a new car, with the paint being in pretty much new shape, am I doing any good or harm by using the all-in-one, or should I just jump straight to a couple of coats of the SG, topped by a few coats of carnuba?

Also. Do I really need to wait for my factory paint job to cure more before using something like all-in-one or would it make no difference?

I`m new here and would appreciate any feedback you can offer.

- This would be better posted in the Autopia University section, as there is an almost duplicate to your question there.

In answer to your questions, take a look at this thread (http://www.autopia-carport.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=10525).

Also. Do I really need to wait for my factory paint job to cure more before using something like all-in-one or would it make no difference? There`s no need to wait for paint to cure. Factory paints are baked and therefor cured immediately.

With all respect, use the search function and make sure that you visit the Autopia University. There`s a wealth of information here, you just need to look for it a little.

And WELCOME to the forum! :wavey

I did do a search on klasse and found reams of interesting posts, but didn`t dig enough to get to this one.

Thanks for the advice and steering me in the right direction.

You will find mixed reviews on AIO on new paint. Many argue the abrasive issue which brings up what type of abrasive is AIO, if it is etc etc.

My rec. is to use 1 X AIO followed by SG. I do not let it cure for 24 HRS (SG) like many others do. Usually a few hours between coats (have never had a gumming up problem). I am a fan of a damp MF towel for removal.

Play with the SG for a while prior to topping.

So I will state my opinion.

If a new car needs AIO, to me it means it is was not prepped properly. If a new car is swirl free, claying, and possibly a mild cleansing lotion like p21s is all you should need. AIO was found to be abrasive (which is not a bad thing but has a place). Using an abrasive on your swirl free finish will marr it to some degree, probably so mild that the naked eye will not see it, but after multiple applications you will see it.......so why bother? Most of us here would not use mothers cleaner wax before using california gold on a new car, or meguires cleaner wax before using #26, so why AIO before SG? If you look at the directions on the bottle it even tells you to skip AIO on a non oxidized finish and go right to SG, and I agree 100%.
