The only things that are holding me back from purchasing zaino are 1) That it causes spiderwebbing and makes swirls more noticeable and 2) that people say it has a plastic looking shine and no depth. Can someone please give me feedback on wether it really makes swirls more noticeable and actually causes spiderwebbing. I would also like to know if people really think it gives a plastic looking shine. I drive a Red bmw.

thanks

jw,

I`m not aware of the spiderwebbing comment... in any case, that is a paint problem, not a sealant/polish problem.

It is true that Zaino polishes provide a very bright, reflective finish. On black and red cars, it gives a "silvery" shimmer.

I think we had talked about this before. Davidb is correct, spiderwebbing involves the paint. I think jw is trying to say massive swirls which give the look of spiderwebs, however it isn`t called spiderwebbing though.

I personally held back on Zaino because of the description of the reflectivity. After having seen all the sealants at work, I would not hesitate to say that they all look great, including Zaino. I found Z5 to hide minor swirls and very minor spiderwebbing just fine. Easy to use. Try it....you`ll like it!

I have heard that zaino is a great product. but i have heard that it brings out swirlmarks and make them visible. THe depth i dont know about. I shouldnt make it look plasticy. But i heard it is the best so go ahead and try it and tell us about it. I have heard the spiderweb comment and i dont know if i believe or not.

So good luck with the Z.

i , personaly ,can say that Zaino IS opticaly perfect:
what I mean is : do your preparation right and Z will make it perfect.
About magnifying imperfections : well, as YOU wash, dry, polish, whatever, your car, YOU know where all the imperfections are.An other person will not!

I can allso state that Z is idiot-proof.Because even I could pull it off :D
Really, just follow the guide-lines from www.zainobros.com and you`ll be safe. There is no magic whatsoever about using Z.

More:If you would go take place in a super-market and demonstrate Z-ZFX on your car, people wouldn`t beleive their eyes, and because of that they wouldn`t trust you either : too simple and too good results (assuming you started with a clean ,swirlfree, unwaxed car).

So , why not try it?
your car is worth it!!!

Zaino + swirl-free car = a fantastic shine

a poorly prep finish ( swirls marks, contaminated clearcoat, etc) + any sealant including Zaino = Sh*t

In other words Zaino will not hide a poorly prep surface ( that job is for carnubas and its silicone fillers ) but will make a fully prep surface look great. The shine is very glossy and in my case the black paint literally appears to covered with a very wet thick layer of acrylic. :bounce

Maybe that is where the opinions about plastic appearance comes from. :nixweiss

I agree it does not look plastic to me but in sertain light it appears to have a sheet of glass over the paint.I would like to try other sealants but time is an issue and the Zaino looks so good and is sooooooooo easy.

As was already mentioned, if you do NOT do the proper prep work, you WILL get less than optimal results from Zaino or ANY product system. FWIW, my car is 10 years old and has less visible swirls now than it ever has in its life. If Zaino caused more marring or swirls, I really don`t think it would look as good...

And, if this is what people mean by the "plastic sterile" look, then I guess I qualify...

If my car did not mirror the pictures posted by Metallic Mike I would think that they were digitally altered. Here a pix of Zaino on my black Z28 ( this is 7 year old GM paint). Not the best pix most of my pictures are too large for this forum`s format. Really great shine Mike!!! :bow

Zaino does not cause spiderwebbing. It just makes you notice it more. You have to build up Z5 coats and that spiderwebbing will be filled in. Also Zaino, I have noticed, is rather easy to scratch up if you dont use the right towels when you dry/etc. but that micro-marring can be filled just with one more Z5 coat.

Z2 is great once you get working with the Z down to a science. Easy to maintain, etc. :p

I say just go for it!

I know what you mean about the "silvery" shimmer. I noticed that on my red Z28 on the hood in mid summer, especially after using Z2.

What I`m trying this year is using mostly Z5 with a little Z2 mixed in occasionally. The fillers in Z5 are suppose to very slightly darken the paint and deepen the color which should help.

If that doesn`t give the effect I want, think I`ll try Klasse next.
