I prefer "klah-zey". Or "klahhz-eh". Depends on where you put the emphasis, before or after the Z.
I honestly don`t think it`s "class" or "classy". Those just don`t work with European accents.
Say the word while doing your best Col. Klink imitation and you`ll be close.

`klas[inverted `e` symbol]` and that the [inverted `e` symbol` is the `a` sound in `above`. As a noun, it means `class` (whoa!) but as an adjective it means `smashing`.

I just say, "Class..." it`s probably wrong, though.

You asked about the pronunciation of Klasse. All characters in German
are pronounced. The `a` is short because of the double `s` following.
The only difference between a short and long `a` is how long you sound
it; both are like the `a` in `father`. `ss` is pronounced as an English
single `s` whereas a single `s` is like an English `z`. The final `e` is
pronounced sort of like `uh`. You`ve probably heard `Porsche` pronounced
as `Portia`. That`s a pretty good approximation as long as the `a` in
Portia is just a hint, not an `ah`. So, the best I can represent the
pronunciation is `klahs-uh`, emphasis on the first syllable.
As a noun, it has the same meanings as the English `class`: grade,
quality. It`s used as an adjective also as in English to mean top
quality: class act. Also in compound nouns: eine Klassefrau = a classy
lady, stunner.</blockquote>
