If I were to purchase a light source for using to detect even the lightest swirls which brand light should I get? Preferably a portable unit since I move around alot. White or candle lights? ANd where can I order the units from?

Why not get a portable fluorescent tube emergency light? You can change the fluorescent tube from Warm White to Cool Daylight anytime to detect different types of swirls/scratches...

Try getting a halogenlight stand with 2 500 watt bulbs or more. Check your sears or auto parts store. I think Wally world has them too.
