View Full Version : Vinylex vs. ?? - Exterior

I`m disappointed in the way Vinylex holds up my exterior black trim, specifically on the horizontal bumper surfaces. Applied it last week using the following steps:

- First coat application. Let sit for 20 minutes. Buffed.

- Waited 30 minutes.

- Applied second coat. Let sit for 20 minutes. Buffed.

We`ve had one day of rain since application, and it`s already streaked where the rain ran off.

Am I expecting too much or doing something wrong? Anybody done any side-by-side comparison with Vinylex vs. Brand-X? I`m considering ordering 303, but I`m wondering if I`ll have the same problem.

Any input appreciated.

On tires, I have found that 303 holds up better.

That said, I think it also may have to do with the surface that it is being applied to. Hard plastic or hard rubber might not be able to absorb as well as soft rubber. So when you get opinions from people, make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Try 303 or Zaino Z16 on your black trim. I have never had any problem with either of them on exterior trim. :up

The surface I`m working with is hard, slightly textured, black plastic.

Oh hard plastic........you can just use your paint sealant on it then. Or you can still go the 303 route.

Man, I learn something here every day. :up So, to make sure I understand, I could use Blackfire on black plastic?

Yep, you could use BlackFire All Finish Paint Protection, Klasse SG, or Zaino Z2.

I don`t think I would use the BF polish on it though, especially if it`s textured.

Showroom, trust me you don`t want to know buddy. At any rate, I really like to use 303 or Z-16 on hard black trim such as mud guards. It seems as thought that the Z-16 lasts a bit longer though. Laters

Give 303 a try.

In addition to 303 you may want to give OG ERV a shot.

Does`nt bleed[from rain or wash] on exterior like Lexol does.
