Does it just fill scratches, or is it`s action chemical or abrasive? Thanks.
Oh, big blunder here. I bought a bunch of their products the DAY before I found out about these forums. I guess we live and learn. I think I`ll use it up and practice and learn more. I know I`ll appreciate advanced detail products as my knowledge and experience is gathered.

I would also like to know what Scratch X does. Yeah I been using Meguiars products. then I found this board and discovered a ton of info and a ton of excellent products so I`m just waiting to finish the Meguiars stuff and try out new products.:)

Well, Meguire`s doesn`t even know!
I wrote tech and e-mail and got this:
Dear Bob,
Thanks for your interest in Meguiar`s. I hope you found the website helpful
and informative.
Scratch X is a chemical cleaner. Scratch X is non-abrasive so it will not
scratch or eat away at you paint like a compound. The chemical agents even
out your clear coat and smoothes out your finish. Scratch X is a mild
cleaner, therefore you could use it every week for the life of the vehicle
and never go through the clear coat.
If you have any further questions, or would like to place an order, please
give me a call.

But I called Meguire`s about an order problem and thought to inquire about Scratch-X with customer service, as well. The fellow there (TJ?) told
me that Scratch-X IS abrasive and that it is designed to break down
into smaller and smaller beads in order to polish out scratches.
Now tech assist will get back to me again with an unknown further outcome.
In the puddin`, however, Scratch-X proved incapable of removing water marks in my case. I`m pretty sure I`m dealing with etching.

So does the right hand at Meguires know what the left hand is doing?
Too funny the responses from them.
Non abrasive yet abrasive. LOL.

Don`t fret 01GTCOUPE and Black Mirror, Meguiar`s stuff is good, and there is a place for it in any detailers arsenal. Even with all the great "exotic" detailing stuff talked about here, products like Final Inspection, Natural Shine and Gold Class Auto Shampoo are still in my bag o tricks.
But sometimes when companies like Eagle 1 and Meguiar`s make gimmicky consumer products (Eagle One with Teflon, Meguiar`s GS27, err umm Scratch X), it causes us driveway warriors to worry that they`re trying more smoke and mirrors than relying on the tried and true products and quality.

OK, here`s the latest and final word on Scratch-X:
My final reply from Meguire`s-
Dear Bob,
The Scratch X has what are called diminishing abrasives, just as TJ
mentioned. The abrasives are so minute that the product is still considered
non abrasive. Scratch X is safe to use everyday.
Thank You
Joe F
I guess it`s a pretty mild and a good 1st try for a novice like me. I still think I`m in for 3M`s SWR next. I don`t have weeks to complete my detail project. Winter is on the way and I still don`t have wax on.

is not a bad product, but why use it? I threw two of my tubes out. For scratch or swirl removal I use the "Mirror Glaze" line of Meguire`s. It does a far better job.
I will go as far as to say. If you use the above mentioned products in conjunction with a Porter Cable buffer, you`ll be amazed at the finish you can obtain.
Don`t bother with Meguire`s online feedback, they suck :D
