Hi All,

A friend of mine dropped off some old skool Vogue Daytons from the 90s, that were never cared for in about 15 years! I was able to remove most of the baked on brake dust using my VX5000 steamer.

The remaining grit/grime I`m not sure how to clean up because the space is so small between the spokes, and I`m trying not to fade any of the gold that is left.

So, today I`m asking the members of Autopia, on how would you cleanup some old Daytons?

Below is are some pics of the situation. I`d appreciate any info you can provide.

You can try a shoe lace with some sort of gold polish to get in and around the spokes? Not sure on this one either?

I`ve been in the New Car business all my adult life and have seen a lot of gold plating done in the 70`s and 80`s. As you can see, it`s awful thin and delicate, so avoid abrasives. I`m thinking something like Car Pro Trix, or Iron-X paste, gently agitated, might be the ticket, but it might be worth contacting Car Pro regarding compatibility with the plating.

Grit & Grime or Pitting? IMO nothing is going to fix that. Nice looking wheel tho from 20`

Iron X would be my go to here...let that dwell then use stiff brushes to loosen up and rinse well
