Hi,

My name is Mike and I joined forums not to long ago. I drive a 2006 Jet black BMW 330i. Love the car. I have wanted to get into detailing and figured I like my car enough to get into it. I really like this forum and hope to learn lots. I don`t plan on being pro. But just want to be able to give a respectable detail.

Here is what car looks like:

I am the 2nd owner of this car and the first owner covered some stone chips with sparkling black, instead of jet black.

Ignore white dots. That is salt! Plenty of that going around this season.

Q: How do you propose I get rid of this on the hood?

Thanks! Again, not looking to be pro. Just want to learn (mostly by trial and error!) and be able to make my car look newish again.
Mike

welcome to AF mike, good to have you here. i think you need to start with a good two bucket wash and claying the surface. do you have any polishing equipment ? are those etchings all the way through the clear coat ?

I believe they`re all the way through. I guess it is hard to tell without actually sanding it down to bare metal and getting the paint kits from BMW to redo them. That is really what I am trying to avoid.

I am going to be buying the Griot 6" polisher. Along with many other things.
