Detailers domain is in northern NJ and you can walk in and purchase. Phil is a super nice guy.

Not sure there is anything in NYC.

Enjoy your stay.

I`m thinking PoorBoys World is about 45 minutes from Times Square. Wouldn`t be a bad drive if you have a rental.

Think there is a wallmart around 4 miles away so might call in there and get some surf city gear which i have used before.

The nearest wal mart is jersey. There`s autozones and pep boys an advance auto all over queens, Brooklyn and Long Island. But you`ll just find the normal OTC Meg`s stuff. No real detailing shops other than detailers domain.

Enjoy your trip!

Yes, I was wondering the same. Larry is really a good guy. Not really happy with his pricing for his new polish... but his products are amazing.

In the USA most corner store detailing stuff is just average. There are the Meg`s and Mothers fans out there, and they make some good products. I`m guessing in Europe products from 1Z, Sonax, Autoglym, etc... Are available locally? I can`t recall. When I was in Germany I wasn`t too into detailing so I didn`t go look.

Most of the products you see people using on detailing sites are purchased via mail order. Every once in a while you may luck out and find a local place that carries some good stuff, but it`s more the exception. I don`t know if this is common knowledge overseas or not, I`m just putting it out there.

You would think, in a city like NYC, where you can purchase any drug, vice, or anything else your heart desires you would be able to take a short walk and puck up some OptiBond?

UK is mainly via Mail order too really unless you happen to live close to certain places that specialise etc.
You are correct that locally you can typically buy only the high volume, well known stuff like AG and Megs.
Its no prob - just if there had been somewhere easy to get too I would have liked to try something different.
Am sure like many detailing fans, I don`t `need` anything - I just buy stuff to try..........

NYC certainly has enough to do and see anyway - still might check out the wallmart. Shouldn`t be too big a deal to get a Yellow cab to pop me over there and back?

thanks for the replies.

On a slightly different note. I buy many of my shaving supplies (straight edge, double edge, brushes, soaps, etc.) mail order from the U.K. Some Italian, some from Spain. We talk even on this forum about shipping costs being prohibitive. I`m here to tell you that this really puts shipping costs in a different light. :D

My son spent a couple of years over in Great Britain, he found ways to get this stuff to me at a reasonable price as long as I could be patient.

On an even a better note, there`s a place in Canada that has started to carry a lot of these harder to acquire items, shipping is slow (particularly on liquids) but quite a bit cheaper.

Uhhh... yeah, I digress.

There`s an Autobarn in Woodside Queens. About an hour subway ride from Manhattan. Don`t know about that particular store but AB sells some Sonax, Collinite, P21s, (R222) to you perhaps. Not worth the trouble IMO.

Same, same, kind of like getting hooked on detailing.

I was in Miami last year and never even thought to have a look or ask................not sure central NYC looks like a detailers world from what i have seen so far - mainly Yellow cabs and what we would call trucks along with plenty of 4x4`s all squeezing past each other...............

Incredible and interesting place though with a great vibe even if my feet ache from all the walking............. -))
