Hey everyone,
I have a black 2012 Acura tl. I do detailing on the side after my full time job bc I love to do it. I recently wanted to really detail my tl from head to toe. I started with first prepping the paint. I stripped all the wax and sealent that was in the car previously. Then I clayed the entire car. Buffed the car with v32 from chemical guys. Then I polished the car with p40 by chemical guys. After that I used black light by chemical guys and then jetseal 109 to seal everything up. My last step I used two coats of 5050 paste wax. I must also say I am using a 7424 dual action polisher when applying everything with the right foam pads. I`m a huge chemical guys and and pretty much have everything that they sell.

My car looks great and wet as hell when the sun goes down. But once then sun is beaming on my black paint it`s looks like there is a grey fade on the paint. Does anyone know what this could be or know how to fix it?

Also to strip off jetseal 109 what should I use? Dish soap?

I appreciate everything thanks guys!

Don`t sweat the jet seal, it`ll wear off in a couple of days

Oh really? Jetseal doesn`t stay on the paint that long? Chemical guys says once it is applied it will last upto 8 months... Is this true? Do you think that jetseal caused my paint to have a fog over my dark black paint?

dunno about the "fog"

just not a fan of jet seal. used it a few times, looked great for a few days

I believe the black on your TL is the same as my accord, Crystal Black Pearl. It has a small amount of metallic flake in it. I`ve noticed the same "haze" on my car, both when it was new and after some polishing. I don`t think it`ll ever have that deep gloss in the sun that your are looking for. Some companies offer true black, Honda/Acura is not one of them.

According to the Acura forum, Crystal Black Pearl has both silver and blue pearl. So, depending on the lighting, could definitely appear to be something other than pure black.

Welcome to AF I too have a TL it`s a 2013 in Graphite Luster.

The color you own is Crystal Black Pearl yes it can appear to have a grayish hue to it when in full sun. My 2010 TSX was the same color...love it but a pain in the arse to keep clean.
In some of the shots you can see grayish hue http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/detailing-product-reviews/41888-review-bf-blackice.html

They stopped NBP in the TL after the 3rd gen body style. Great color, looks blue In full sunlight.

maybe its just the paint messing with you....i have a 09 metallic black challenger and when it is super waxed up it almost looks black and brown from all the flakes reflecting in the light
