So here`s what we got GL450 it belongs to the wife of a very good customer of mine who has an SLS, 997 Turbo, 458 italia, and a really cool chris-craft boat(he`s probably well off to say the least) So he brought his wife`s car in and ask me if I could work some magic on it. Being on an "UNO" kick after my review of it last month I thought this to be perfect so see what uno is really made of since MB is known for their scratch removal resistant clear coats(I dont think the salemen used the word removal when he was saleing the car) so here we go.

Now here`s the downside of having 2 locations after seeing the real condition of this car after washing, IPA, Clay, Wash agian. Knowing I`m gonna sleep on the couch for the next 2 week I would of went straight for my SIP and wool DA leving pad. Both of which are about 60 miles away in a building that I dont have the keys to DOH. So here is what I had to work with and what I did. Rotary 3m perfect it heavy cut wool, Uno MF pad, orange Uno pad, Green uno pad, Ultrafine Orange CCS pad, Uno red uno pad. Strange combo but was the only thing that worked after 3 hours of test spots I got best results like that. MB Black paint always puts a beating on me and for some reason I never Have SIP when they show up I ordered a bottle for here yesterday though Thank you Autopiaforum for the 30% off promo!

Nice job she looks great.Oh and just and FYI, i had to read your pad and polish combo process like three times just to make sure i wasnt seeing things. The process might have been a little weird but the results were great. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I would think the same lol. The paint on this car was being a PIA and 75% of my stuff was at the other shop. The last step with ultrafine with the orange pad was crazy to me but there were these super fine scratches that just would not come out with Uno and when I stepped up aggression pad wise with uno it would put other trash in the paint. So I tryed with ultrafine and 4 pad combos, orange made it work so I rolled with it. Thank for compliment

Yeah the Ultrafine/Orange pad combo is a little unorthodox, but if thats what works, so be it. Sometimes in this business, doing everything by the book just dont work. In the real world, one has to be able to adapt and overcome in any situation, so hats off to you for that. Nice job :)

Fantastic work!

As they say in these parts, some times you just have to dance with who brung you. Great lateral thinking.

I have heard of several people finishing well using an orange pad (this is the pad a lot of OEM factories finish with) on finicky paint. I think Nick Champman has used this combination with success.

The GL looks great, thanks for sharing!

It turned out great. Sometimes things don`t go as originally planned. The process can differ on MB paint from one to the next.
