I am sure this winter clean up does not belong in the detailers showcase so feel free to move it. Sorry about the poor quality iPhone pics and my shadow in almost every one of them!

I washed my car for the first time since the begining of February. I broke my foot so the LSP and winter prep I did in October really was put to a brutal test. I got my walking boot off last Tuesday, so I cut out of work early Friday and washerd my car. This wash was to remove the bulk of the accmulated dirt that was excessive. I needed to change my rinse water 3 times as it got black. I had so much tar on the paint that it took a whole can of Tarmanator and then some cleaner form a local shop here to get it to acceptable levels after the wash. Re-washed.

Car was rinsed with PW, foamed with Super Slick and suds, washed 2BM

After 1st wash and before Tar removal I evaluated the 3 LSP I used prior to winter:
1. Power Lock-Still had some beading properties, not much tar left on pannel after good wash. Good Gloss. This was on 1/2 nose cone and 1/2 of hood
2. BFWD other 1/2 Nose cone and hood-Some beading properties, not much tar stuck after wash. Slickest of the 3 after a winter (Mild) of neglect.
3. Permanon Platinum at 10% rest of car and wheels and Glass.-Wheels cleaned up very easy with soap and water. These whells clean rather easy and Infiniti`s dont dust much. So glad I dont have a german car like a BMW or Audi. Too much dust! Th permanon painted pannels cleaned up well, needed more washing to get clean, even the vertical pannels. Seemed to have more trouble removing tar from the permanon.

Overall the Power Lock and BFWD are close. If I had to choose a winner of the 2 it would be so close but the BFWD might edge it out. if you had one or the other I would not say switch if you like it. I would say they both protect equally. When I first applied them, the BFWD might feel slicker but who besides "us" touches the car and say, wow that slick???

Permanon has its place in my garage. It is so easy to use and although the durability is not awesome, for the amount of work you need to do to apply it-it is a winner for all but a winter LSP in my opinion. If you value your time, the permanon is great. You will need to apply it more often than a Wipe on, let haze wipe off product. Super easy for wheels and wells. Still playig with this product and I have a whole litter plus left so I will keep you posted.

Next Victim was the wifes MDX. I had used Ultima Paint Guard Plus on her car to use it up. You know what, her car bead like it was done 4 weeks ago. Granted my car traveled 9,000+ miles in the time her traveld less than 3,000 but they both sit outside 24x7. Ultima Paint Guard plus is a winner in my book. A very easy WOWA product that might get some more play on my car in the future.

Sorry, the beads were flat and the picture was unusable. Very hard to focus on flat white.
Will try again next wash.

In conclusion. I am not a Pro detailer and my wash technique is a self proclaied 8/10 and my paint correction skills are a WIP and out of 5.5/10. Hoping to get better at that this summer. Thinking of taking a class at DD over the summer with Phil and Dave. They posted one a few months ago that looked great and they are close to me (1 hour). Once I get to be a better polisher, I plan on trying the Cquartz/Aquartz Optimum type of permanent coatings.

I try every LSP that I think might be better or less work since I like my cars to be immaculate at all times.

On a side note
I am currently using Pneu as my tire dressing. Happy bc it gives me the new tire look without too much gloss. What else out there shold I be looking at in this catagory?

Thanks all for sharing all your knowledge with me.

Have a good one!

Winter was easy for a change. Think we only had 1 snowfall for less than 3 inches in October. Kind of like living in Northern California this year.

Your Infinity went through the transformation from winter to spring. What a difference in the before and after shots and I`m certain you stood back after it was finished with a smile on your face....

Very nice work!! :bigups
