Cleaning the 740iL`s wheels was a major pain. Even after two back-to-back cleanings with Sonus Wheel Gel, the rims still had brake dust cooked all over the place. I started searching through the boxes and came across some BlackFire...hmmm, I`ll give it a shot!

Here`s the BlackFire getting ready to go on to the wheel...

You can see the gunk caked on to the wheel...plain rubbing didn`t remove it, nor did the Sonus.

A few swipes/rubs with a little BF later...(I used drops about the size of a thumb-tack)

One wheel done, 3 to go...

Feel free to ponder.

When I have had a similar problem, either clay or brake cleaning fluid seems to do the trick.

Hey steve.. what kinda pads/towels are those??

Microfiber, cut into squares. It was a Griot`s MF towel that would lint if I looked at it funny, so I figured it would be ok to sacrifice it... :)

Wow, not only is BF paint friendly, it can also cut through the thickest wheel grime.

It`s a car wax and dessert topping... a little poetic license from a classic SNL skit.

ROFLMAO! :p

Wait... did geeky use the "polish" or the "protectant?" If it was the "polish," then that would make more sense...

The bottle says "Gloss Enhancing Polish" so I guess Steve used the non-abrasive "prep" product...

Makes sense?

in the pic it says Gloss enhancing polish, so i guess he used the polish...come on its steve here! He wouldn`t try to WAX off brake dust....or would he. :scared

Who knows... maybe he used both and got similar results. But that`s just pure speculation on my part.

Wasn`t going to say anything, but I used both products on the BMW. I took pictures of both, and the results that they produced...lemme say this:

Could it be that they are the same thing?

Funny how CMA keeps saying how “safe†it is, yet according to someone’s test, the pH levels of both products are quite high.

The unique oil-in-water emulsion is safe for all paint finishes with or without a clear coat. This emulsion contains a small amount of a very refined mineral spirit in a water base. It does not contain any of the strong, VOC solvents found in most polymer products.[/i]

A non-abrasive refined mineral spirit? ;) :D

I guess we shouldn`t trust any[/b] manufacturer’s claim (or their sponsors/partners/distributors) too much. After all, they sell (or help sell) it.

EDIT: Since all polymers or waxes contain at least a tiny bit of solvents or chemicals, do you think Klasse SG or some other similar proudct will do the same?
