1995 Honda Accord Extreme Makeover

I am not used to this microfiber towel idea and don`t want to buy the wrong ones. I really only want to use them for drying my car. I`m tired of the chamois routine. I know there are different types but want the most gentle one out there. Griot`s carries some but they are usually way more dough than everyone else. I`ll stick with the koala soft to remove my Souveran for now.

I have a bunch of MF towels made by different manufacturers including a couple from Griots. I would have to say that in comparison that the Neatitems MF are some of the best I have come across. They are so soft and plush. I know there are some others that I have not tried yet.

For microfiber towels, the YoSteve.com (`http://www.autopia-carport.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=5896`) towels are simply the plushest and best available at a very reasonable price. They are great for drying, removing Souveran, or removing abrasive polishes. The Neatitems (`http://www.autopia-carport.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=7056&highlight=NEatitems`) aren`t as plush, but still safe for many uses. And it has the best value of all the microfiber towels.

CMA used to sell great MTs too, but recently, a few members found their quality control for "Miracle Towels" to be going downhill. I would stay away from then for now… (Jason`s MT review) (`http://www.autopia-carport.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=6998`)

Tacscar (`http://www.autopia-carport.com/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=7195&perpage=20&pagenumber=1`) also sell great microfiber towels. Do a search on their new $2.99 towels.

If you want to use a great MF for drying, go to the CMA site and get a couple of Big Blue Drying towels. They are about $25 each but well worth it. Then follow up with a YoSteve or Neatitems MF. Drying time is cut in half....



If you are serious about detailing, be prepared to spend some money to get the right paraphenalia. You obviously are on your way if you are using Souveran! BTW, an MF is superior to the Koala towel for wax removal too!

Heed the advice above. It`s easy to spend money on cheap or unknown microfiber in the local stores....dont do it. What you usually end up with is a towel that lints like crazy or isnt very plush. Buy them right the first time and you`ll be happier.

I`m very upset with the quality of my Griot`s MF`s...they lint on everything. Made the mistake of using them on my windshield - never again!



I`ve had good luck with the Viper MF`s, but I always "test" them before using. The quality seems to vary depending on the time of year - if they`re a little too harsh, I relegate them to household duty or wheel duty.

If you are using a natural chamois on a finish that has Souveran, you are actually removing the Souveran. A natural chamois will remove wax.



That said, the Neatitems.com towels very nice. I had recently ordered 5 of the large drying towels and 10 of the regular size towels from them. The "old" Miracle Towels that CMA used to carry were excellent, and fortunately I still have a few. From what I understand, they aren`t the same anymore, which is sad.



As you are exposed to the different towels that are out there, you will be able to tell right away a towel worthy of using on your finish, from one that does "tire/wheelwell duty".

How would you compare Steve`s towels at an 80/20 blend, to CMA`s towels that are a 70/30 blend?



How does plushness differ? What about micro-marring from the 80/20 blend?

In my experience, I have yet to see a MF towel that won`t leave lint if used new, without machine washing first. As further evidence of this, I decided that the instrument panel lens had been smudged long enough and I recently went for my MF towel stash. Everyone one except the new (unwashed) ones were dirty so I grabbed one of the new ones anyway - a white Neatitems. Light lint everywhere - you`d think I`d finally get this after three or four times - which is super visible against the flat black background.



Wash your MF towels before using them!

This is a daily driven car, probably has not been waxed or properly taken care of in 7-10 years, nearly 200,000 miles...when I first saw the paint, I knew that it had potential to look great ( Metallic Flakes) just a matter of a whole lot of hard work to bring it back to life, interior wasn`t real bad (seen worse) the one thing I did recommend (came close not posting this post because of this: the rim covers...They have to be replaced, a real eyesore, Jason agreed after he saw this finished detail....on to some pics
