I`ve read on the Hated Products thread that Armor All in on their the most. I was just wondering what`s so bad about it? I use the `Interior` non-greasy stuff that leaves a really nice matte sheen on my interior and engine.

I use EO Wet Tire Gel on my tires, though. It looks the best and beads water for a long time.:up

Any replies to the Armor All thing, though??

Some have experienced long time use of Armor All can lead to dashes cracking if I`m not mistaken.

The general consensus here think that its bad, even if there isn`t significant evidence that Armor-All damages rubber over time. In fact, you might want to check out this thread:

Ron says Armor-All is a PDMS dressing, like 303 or Vinylex. Are we just being ignorant here, or does not using Armor-All make us a true Autopian?

I think we will never use it, no matter how safe it is…

Happy detailing…

EDIT: Is the Armorall product you are using a thin, milky white liquid?

I think Ron was referring to some new Armor-All stuff that is the familiar milky colored PDMS dressing. I do not believe it is possible to have a clear PDMS dressing as the stuff itself is not clear.

Testing for PDMS: If it`s greasy or clear it`s "the bad kind," which isn`t necessarily horrible for anything but I refuse to even use it in wheelwells.

PDMS, the safe stuff is going to be a milky colored liquid that is rather thin and can smell like anything. It will not last too incredibly long in the standard dressings I`ve seen but I`m sure there is more expensive stuff out there that we just haven`t come across.

I haven`t seen safe Armor-All anywhere, it`s all clear. I don`t think it`s distributed around here yet if there is such a thing.

Hmmm... okay. All we need is a reply from drewski about whether the "Interior" version is a thin, milky colored liquid... or that CLEAR LIQUID!

:D

I use the white liquid AA inside my fender wells. Heck I have large fender wells and a bottle only lasts about 3-4 fender well applications.

PS I also use the STP stuff in the fender wells too depends which was on sale!:xyxthumbs

:p

Ummm. the `interior` "non-greasy" formula is milky-white.

So, it`s not that bad?!?!

Thanks for your help.

I`ts greasy, smeary and slings all over the place. It is dimethyl silicone oil too. This is a rubber degradant. The worst effects are seen when you STOP using it. It turns tires brown and dries out vinyl dashes causing them to possibly crack over time. Some tire manufacturers will not honor their warranty for sidewall failure if a silicone oil containing tire dressing was used on the tire. While your tires may not look pretty if you use it, I believe that you will most likely replace the tires on a daily driver before this stuff has a chance to do much damage. Nonetheless......I avoid it period.
