I am camaroSS Bill:) He is my friend with 3 cars he never takes care of

CamaroSSBill: These washes, depending on the owner/operater, may use products that will clean the hell out of the car, "eats the dirt" off, but in the process, kiss your lovingly applied wax/sealant goodbye!!

CamaroSSBill: Most that are the least agressive are going to be around 10 to 10.5. Not good, but then some will have a 4 to 5, on the acidic side.

Seems some think that a hydrofluric or bi-ammonium/ammonium fluride solution is not going to damage a clear.

WRONG!!

As you are aware, any coating you apply to the paint surface is in reality a "sacrifical" coating, it takes the beating rather than the clear.

Adrian PPI 1: perhaps I should start filtering my city water when I wash my car at home too

CamaroSSBill: looks like they put a ton of yes

CamaroSSBill: yes

CamaroSSBill: LOL

Adrian PPI 1: and put big tent over it when I get it out of the garage to drive it

CamaroSSBill: one of those car bubbles

CamaroSSBill: lol

Adrian PPI 1: there ya go

CamaroSSBill: just giving a warning

Adrian PPI 1: It`s a car, Bill. "Most" people drive them everyday. Some drive them once every other week when it`s at least *60 and sunny or when the moon is in the right phase *ahem*

Adrian PPI 1: I`ll take my chances at the car wash or the rare occasion I don`t feel like washing it at home

CamaroSSBill: Dont ````` when you car looks like ```` and ask me how to help

CamaroSSBill: :-)

Adrian PPI 1: when my paint falls off, I`ll complain, and go buy a Supra

Adrian PPI 1: or a vette

CamaroSSBill: Cool:-)

Adrian PPI 1: or a $20 cav

Adrian PPI 1: as if my ```` gets washed half as much as yours

CamaroSSBill: ?

Adrian PPI 1: you wash your car if it sits in the garage too long!

Adrian PPI 1: give me a break!

Adrian PPI 1: lol

CamaroSSBill: if every wash you are washing off the 1 coat of wax you put on in a year you will see the probs down the road

Adrian PPI 1: nothing I have is show quality, and that`s fine by me.. as long as it looks decent

Adrian PPI 1: I"ve never actually waxed any of my cars.

Adrian PPI 1: you know this

CamaroSSBill: there you go

Adrian PPI 1: life goes on

CamaroSSBill: LOL

Adrian PPI 1: well

CamaroSSBill: You do ask about all the Marks on the 96? Didnt you

Adrian PPI 1: quit tryign to scare me with there`s sulfuric acid in the car wash!

CamaroSSBill: and want to buff it?

Adrian PPI 1: it needs repainted, I know this

Adrian PPI 1: that has nothing to do with the car wash

CamaroSSBill: OK OK:-)

CamaroSSBill: LOL

CamaroSSBill: yes it does AD

CamaroSSBill: There is nothing protecting the paint when you are washing it, where it be at home or there

Adrian PPI 1: no matter how good that damn car looks,no matter how many hours I spend on it, no matter how much $ I put into a paint job, you and I both know, the very next day my wife will either run it though a ````ing puddle the size of Lake Erie, then go out to her mom`s where every cat in the county wil climb all over it, then go to the grocery store where some whale will door ding it both times in and out of theire $200 cavalier ````box.

Adrian PPI 1: Ihave a hard time caring about that thing anymore

Adrian PPI 1: I can`t win... call me Ben

Adrian PPI 1: I`ve tried

CamaroSSBill: LOL

Adrian PPI 1: you`ve seen me. you`ve helped me

CamaroSSBill: Same for the Satty to right?

Adrian PPI 1: it`s a pointless battle

Adrian PPI 1: satty is completely different

CamaroSSBill: Never waxed befor I got it]

CamaroSSBill: 3 years

Adrian PPI 1: you`re missing my point

CamaroSSBill: and it is?

CamaroSSBill: her paint was mistreated just like the p6 for 3 years

CamaroSSBill: 96

CamaroSSBill: Her driving it:-)

CamaroSSBill: I mean

Adrian PPI 1: so do you want to take care of my car for me?

Adrian PPI 1: cuz I don`t

Adrian PPI 1: I`m sick of looking at it

Adrian PPI 1: have at it

Adrian PPI 1: tell me what I owe ya

Adrian PPI 1: I`d be happy to pay ya, the car would be clean, I wouldn`t have to ```` with it, and she`d be happy

Adrian PPI 1: it`s a win win situation

Adrian PPI 1: you can deal with the paint then

Adrian PPI 1: all yours

CamaroSSBill: nope I was just trying to help you save the paint on your cars, if you dont care then I dont care, But I dont want to hear that you want to get it repainted... thats dumb if ot will be right back where it is now Right? y even wash it>? you dont care she dont care........ just leave it

Adrian PPI 1: it`s not that I don`t care, Bill, you know that. I`d love to be able to keep the car spotless and beautiful like the SS or Satty, but it dosn`t work that way at my house.

CamaroSSBill: y not?

CamaroSSBill: you just hve to keep up on it

CamaroSSBill: no matter hpow much time it takes

Adrian PPI 1: I`d be washing that damn thing every other day, and I`m not that dedicated for a car that`s goign to get traded off because of high miles ina year because her ass keeps has to work in Kokomo

CamaroSSBill: I see

Adrian PPI 1: I don`t have the space in my garage to wash it like you do. If I did, it might get washed more

Adrian PPI 1: not that that`s my excuse

CamaroSSBill: I just care to much I guess, I feel like if it is dirty enuf to wash each day then that is

CamaroSSBill: I remember when I didnt have a garage

Adrian PPI 1: because I know you and ben both did it in smaller garages

Adrian PPI 1: or with no garage

CamaroSSBill: ya

CamaroSSBill: It is what you want...

Adrian PPI 1: I hate doign some that I`m goign to have to redo the very next ````ing day

CamaroSSBill: yep

CamaroSSBill: Me to

Adrian PPI 1: I want to have a nice clean car, but I don`t want to have to wash it every other day

CamaroSSBill: but I do it, becouse it is important to me

CamaroSSBill: ya

CamaroSSBill: we all do

Adrian PPI 1: well, it`s not near as important to me as it is to you.

CamaroSSBill: and there you go

CamaroSSBill: :-)

Adrian PPI 1: not that there`s any thing wrong with that

CamaroSSBill: nope

Adrian PPI 1: it`s not a show car, and it`s not gonna be.

Adrian PPI 1: I don`t want it to be

Adrian PPI 1: I don`t have the patience to be a car detailer on my own cars

CamaroSSBill: I was just telling you about something I read, tring to help you keep the cars "AS nice` as you can for the work that you are puting in to them

Adrian PPI 1: I appreciate it.

CamaroSSBill: I want a car that will look as good as it can with the LEAST abount of work

CamaroSSBill: as do you?\

CamaroSSBill: right

Adrian PPI 1: you`ve convinced me that I shouldn`t be going to the car wash a long time ago.

Adrian PPI 1: sometimes it the quickest option, albiet, not the "best" option

CamaroSSBill: yes

CamaroSSBill: right

Adrian PPI 1: welll there ya go

CamaroSSBill: But it would be a ton easiser when you wash it at the DIY if the car had a good coat of wax? And look better longer?

Adrian PPI 1: and if it wasn`t -16 outside, I`d have washed all the *moving* cars on my time off

CamaroSSBill: I see

CamaroSSBill: as we all would

CamaroSSBill: LOL

Adrian PPI 1: apparently not, because the DIY would have just stripped off my wax with an acid bath

CamaroSSBill: Doors will freeze shut in this ````

CamaroSSBill: true

Adrian PPI 1: once again.. there ya go

CamaroSSBill: Is my car clean(satty)? no

CamaroSSBill: Looks like ass

Adrian PPI 1: does it have a "1 thick layer of salt, dirt, grime on it like the `96?

Adrian PPI 1: if you wash it today, will it all be back on there tomorrow?

Adrian PPI 1: no

Adrian PPI 1: mine will

CamaroSSBill: we after going to kokomo yeaterday....... it doesnt look to good

Adrian PPI 1: and that`s teh difference

CamaroSSBill: it is what you want to do..

Adrian PPI 1: no, it`s what I DON`T want to do

CamaroSSBill: what do you want to do?

CamaroSSBill: dont?

Adrian PPI 1: wash the car and have it stay that way for more than 2 days

CamaroSSBill: OK

Adrian PPI 1: that`s what I want

CamaroSSBill: tHAT DESN T HAPPEN TO ANY CAR

CamaroSSBill: ??

Adrian PPI 1: it just seems to happen to mine more

Adrian PPI 1: lol

CamaroSSBill: lol

Adrian PPI 1: what do you want me to do?

Adrian PPI 1: what is you`re opinion
CamaroSSBill: the satty gets dirty as soon as it i out if the garage (gravel drive) then it is back to where it was...
CamaroSSBill: ok here is my idea
Adrian PPI 1: besides my laziness
CamaroSSBill: Leave it.............. till spring
Adrian PPI 1: lets hear it
Adrian PPI 1: it`s needs washed before then
CamaroSSBill: Y
Adrian PPI 1: badly
Adrian PPI 1: it makes me sick
Adrian PPI 1: it loks like ass and I hate it
CamaroSSBill: but it will be right back tha same way in a few days?
Adrian PPI 1: exactly
CamaroSSBill: so leave it
CamaroSSBill: the Acid in the wash is not as bad as the salt on the roads> BUt
Adrian PPI 1: I don`t want all that shiht eating what`s left of the paint
CamaroSSBill: there is nothing protecting the paint
Adrian PPI 1: then my damn doors freeze
CamaroSSBill: yep
Adrian PPI 1: ya....
Adrian PPI 1: and....?

CamaroSSBill: so the salt needs washed off, and in the summer
CamaroSSBill: there needs to be some waxing done
CamaroSSBill: but
Adrian PPI 1: there needs to be a lot of waxing done
CamaroSSBill: if you are spending a few hr. waxing on a Sat. then the next saat you take it to the scrach o matic the time you spent waxing is gone....... right
Adrian PPI 1: yup
CamaroSSBill: ok so wax a few times in the summer at home...then
Adrian PPI 1: keep washing it at home
CamaroSSBill: you need some protectent (not Zanio) or othere product so that in the winter when you HAVE TO take it to the DIY it doesnt eat the paint so bad an it will be a ton easier to keep clean and will look better when it is clean...
CamaroSSBill: just My .02$
Adrian PPI 1: I have no desire to go to the U scratch em
Adrian PPI 1: MY plan
CamaroSSBill: do it at home?
Adrian PPI 1: is to get the garage to where I can do it in there all the time
Adrian PPI 1: like you do
CamaroSSBill: ok ok
CamaroSSBill: but for now..
Adrian PPI 1: but I`m not to that point, yet
CamaroSSBill: ok
CamaroSSBill: so you do care:-)
CamaroSSBill: just need to get the garage ready:-)
Adrian PPI 1: I`ve always cared, I just don`t have the means to do it the way I want
Adrian PPI 1: the right way
CamaroSSBill: ok
Adrian PPI 1: I"m currently not set up for it.
CamaroSSBill: till then you need to get something protecing the paint,
CamaroSSBill: :-)
CamaroSSBill: Just to get you by
Adrian PPI 1: I need to get a detailer, so "I`m" not wasting my time all the time
Adrian PPI 1: then when I get things set up the way I want, I"ll take back over
CamaroSSBill: do you like to do it Yourself?
CamaroSSBill: I mean realy like
Adrian PPI 1: not once a week
CamaroSSBill: ok
CamaroSSBill: thats cool
Adrian PPI 1: which is they way i would want it done til I can do it
Adrian PPI 1: If I could do it in my garage, then on the weekends I wouldn`t mind
Adrian PPI 1: once a week wouldn`t bother me
CamaroSSBill: Cool thats what I wanted to hear
CamaroSSBill: It hase been 2 weeks for the satty....
Adrian PPI 1: because it`d be faster and less time consuming
CamaroSSBill: and if you had somthing on the paint it ywould be faster and easier and lookbetter
Adrian PPI 1: that`s secondary to my point
CamaroSSBill: k
CamaroSSBill: just a side note
CamaroSSBill: HGTV Sunday 6PM Pacific, 9PM Eastern Extreme Garages
Adrian PPI 1: ok
CamaroSSBill: 9pm here but I dont know if it is the same ne?
CamaroSSBill: one
Adrian PPI 1: once I get to the point where I can take care of the car the way I want, when I want, then I`ll worry about wax, and all the pro goodies
Adrian PPI 1: BUT!
CamaroSSBill: k
Adrian PPI 1: until then, I`m not wasing my time, money and energy on any of it more than I have to
CamaroSSBill: cool but, what about the paint till then?
CamaroSSBill: SOL?
CamaroSSBill: lol
Adrian PPI 1: exaclty
CamaroSSBill: ok:-)
CamaroSSBill: Cool
Adrian PPI 1: take what it gets
CamaroSSBill: I se
CamaroSSBill: speaking of that
CamaroSSBill: do ou still have the wax u used on the Juimmy?
Adrian PPI 1: it`ll get attention when I have time, and the desire to do it.
CamaroSSBill: jimmy
Adrian PPI 1: hmmm
Adrian PPI 1: probably
Adrian PPI 1: why/
Adrian PPI 1: ?
CamaroSSBill: was it turtle?
Adrian PPI 1: unsure
CamaroSSBill: K
CamaroSSBill: no big deal
Adrian PPI 1: it`s been on the shelf for a while
Adrian PPI 1: imagine that
CamaroSSBill: I wasthin ing
Adrian PPI 1: oh?
CamaroSSBill: bout what you had to use just for now
CamaroSSBill: till
CamaroSSBill: you were ready
Adrian PPI 1: LOOK!
CamaroSSBill: lol
Adrian PPI 1: here`s the deal
CamaroSSBill: lol
Adrian PPI 1: dammit
CamaroSSBill: hehehe
CamaroSSBill: Never mind
Adrian PPI 1: if you`ll let me usae YOUR garage, then I`ll wash the damn thing as often aas you think it needs done
Adrian PPI 1: deal?
Adrian PPI 1: !!
CamaroSSBill: LOL
Adrian PPI 1: there ya go
CamaroSSBill: I may take you up on that
CamaroSSBill: ? Hmmmmm
Adrian PPI 1: no u scratch um
Adrian PPI 1: no acid water
Adrian PPI 1: only Zaino, washed once a week
Adrian PPI 1: whatever make`s Bill happy
CamaroSSBill: Might try some new stuf called Blitz
CamaroSSBill: or Klasse
Adrian PPI 1: the car will be clean, the wife will be happy, I`ll be happy, and lil` Bill will be happy
CamaroSSBill: this is what i wish
Adrian PPI 1: win win win win situation
CamaroSSBill: http://www.scottwax.com/ (`http://www.scottwax.com/`)
Adrian PPI 1: that`s a helluva commute
CamaroSSBill: LOL
CamaroSSBill: I had somthing like this with these cars
Adrian PPI 1: I know that Ed and I aren`t millionaires and don`t drive Shaguars but we`d be paying customers
CamaroSSBill: LOL
Adrian PPI 1: you could take a LOT of TLC`s business I guarantee it
CamaroSSBill: I have a few in mind
CamaroSSBill: lol
Adrian PPI 1: I know of at least one banker that I"m sure would be will ing to pay for a QUALITY job
CamaroSSBill: Yep

That was fun just thought I would share:)

What was the point again?? I popped out of gear after the first "I don`t care...." from Adrian.

If he doesn`t care, he doesn`t care. It just puts him in the same boat as 99% of all the other car owners out there.

It was nice of you to try to teach him religion but some folks are too damned lazy. You should have jumped all over his offer of paying you to take care of his car. That way everyone gets what they want and goes home happy.

ya I was trying to tell him how Bad it was to go to the DIY and use the brush and the (BAD WATER?) just trying to help a friend out, he is always talking about how nice my cars look(we work togeather) and how he wishes his were clean like mine... Just trying to help him learn how easy it is once you start and keep up on it, and the benifits:)

Give a man a fish and he eats once, teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime... or somthing like that>> LOL:)

I`ve "converted" about 2 or 3 people into the auto detailing religion. Usually they`re sold when they see one of my cars and then do the same with theirs.

It takes a certian kind of person to get involved in car care to the level that Autopians do. I think it`s almost in your blood, either you are a car freak at heart or your not.

wow, interesting convo. seems like he wants to do something but doesn`t like having to keep up with it

Have him pay you to do his car up with klasse, have him wash it once a week and use some quick detailer.

It won`t look good 100% of the time, but at least it`ll be protected and will look great a few days after each washing depending on conditions. He`ll be happy knowing he can have it look good anytime he chooses to wash it and his paint will last longer in the process.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover, you can most likely find it locally at any auto parts store.

I used to use a hair dryer...to remove old decals on snowmobiles. Just keep on long enough to melt the glue. Peels right off. The snowmobiles were figerglass but imagine it would be ok on metal as well. Anyone have thoughts about doing that on metal?

I use a heat gun (same thing) Once you get the sticker peeled off come back with something like 3M to remove glue residue :soldier:

It was good to see you in the CR tonight Firebird <:-P
