You need to tell us what you are interested in and what you want it to do. Also budget helps greatly. DO you need 4 doors trunk or hatchback, fuel economy or gas guzzler, is insurance an issue.

I got a chance to play with our newest addition to the machine polisher line up- The Shurhold Dual Action Polisher. I love polishers to the extent of any man roaming this Earth, in fact my dream job would likely consist of making polishers for a living, so this is always fun for me.

The Shurhold Dual Action Polisher delivers, period, and is quite an impressive machine that will find a home and a happy user because it has some unique features not seen on other polishers. You may not be as familiar with the name Shurhold as you are with Blackfire, but that is because this companies roots are in the boating and yachting industry. Because of the nautical intention of this machine it is outfitted with a HUGE 20 foot power cord with a ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI. This is idea for those of us who like to DA damp sand with our electric polisher, as well as ideal for those who work in wet conditions or on a boat.

Opening up the box, I was impressed to find everything I could want (minus multiple backing plate sizes) in a polisher, from extra brushes to multiple handle styles, as well as an attractive carrying case.

The machine itself is small, weighting only 4.8 pounds. Compared to other DA polishers it certainty feels smaller and easier to control. Like most of newer Dual Action Polisher the Shurhold features a 5/16th inch stroke, and accepts most standard backing plates (as well as the excellent 5 inch plate that is included).

The speed dial on Shurhold Dual Action Polisher is located under the power cord an controls a 500 Watt motor, which seems to be plenty for serious correction work.

The power switch is located on the right or starboard side. Because I polish with my left hand over the head of the machine, I sometimes found it a little difficult to find the switch. The switch slides forward, turning the machine on, and bringing the OPMs up to the speed set on the dial. If you press the switch forward a little further it will lock into place. Push it forward again to release.

The power cord, which features a very generous 20 foot length also has a circuit interrupter , which adds an additional level of safety when working in conditions where water could be present. (Use common sense!)

Finally the Shurhold Dual Action Polisher comes complete with a carrying case with dual side pockets which do a great job of holding the machine and it?s accessories.

So how does it perform?

This thing generates some seriously quick pad rotation which and seems almost impervious to bog, particular when used with 5.5 inch pads. It seems to have a lot of power on the top end. The noise levels are not the lowest, nor the highest of the popular DA?s, but in the middle. Vibration is very well controlled an a non-issue if you are used to DA polishing.

In terms of paint correction, all of the modern machines are extremely competitive and versatile, so it will always come down to personal preference. The Shurhold is a slightly different take, and one that I prefer.

The best boat detailer out here, a personal friend of mine, had one of these given to him for evaluation and since its a little toy PC compared to the heavy duty rotaries he needs and kills with regularity to detail gelcoat, he gave it to me to try out for a few weeks.

Its smaller, pretty noisy, doesnt have a more positive rotation like the Meguiars G110V2, and the on/off switch is in an akward place for a right handed buffer like me.

Personally based on my needs and usage of it, I place it on line with the P/CableXP, and based on me being able to kill the rotation very easily, not as good with that aspect as the Meguiars G110V2..

Again, its all in what you personally want to do with it, and how you use it; my boat detailer expert says it will never be able to cut it in a gelcoat/rotary world, but perhaps it would be good for something inside the boat that required light buffing.

Me, I dont care for it... :)

I agree with gdal. It looks just like the Griots polisher. A longer cord though.
