How often and what products?

Hey! I`m a newbie here. This is an awesome board!!! Well, I just ordered some Klasse AIO and SG and I`ll be taking my Thanksgiving Break and put them on. Any tips before I begin anything?? Thanks!!

Try reading the host of this site, www.autopia-carport.com . You may also find the ebook sold there is a valuable reference for newbie detailers. You`ll learn a great deal. Also check out the archives, lots to learn there. Search for "newbie help" and you`ll get a bunch of threads that may help you.

Welcome to the Forum. The only thing I would suggest is wash correctly, and prep your paint as best as you can. Paint prep is 90% of the battle.

Between now and next week, read as much as you can in the archives, and in the detailing articles you`ll find here and elsewhere.

Dave B. out host and moderator has a super book on detailing, and you can get it on this site. Until then, read, read, and read!

When you have an idea what you want to do, then ask the forum all your questions.

To start with the AIO and the SG, just follow directions included, and that will start you off in good shape. You have a good sized rig to take care of, if you start to feel that doing all this is too imposing, just do it in sections. Once you get it where you want it, it won`t be much trouble keeping it there.

ExplEddieBauer, I prepped my paint with Mother`s Clay and 3M Swirl Mark Remover and Finesse-It II, but my car has some pretty bad swirl marks. You might not need to do that.. If you car is a year or more old, you might want to clay it. Read the archives for more on claying, I promise you`ll find more than you ever need to know. :cool:

My advice to you is drink heavily. No, no, no musta accessed the wrong databank there.;) Paint prep is really important. One of the highly regarded products on this site is on sale right now. Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion (`http://www.pinnaclewax.com/paincleanlot.html`) is on sale for $10. Another great product for getting rid of swirl marks is 3M Swirl Mark Remover (`http://multimedia.mmm.com/mws/mediawebserver.dyn?AAAAAAjhtMPAVdBAOdBAAAJ4rMD0000&-`). Some obvious replies to your question are to make sure to work the AIO into your paint. In addition, use foam pads to apply the Klasse SG. Allow the product to sit on your car for a minimum of 20 minutes or so. Use VERY THIN LAYERS OR COATS. The thinner the better as this will allow for an easier removal or buffing out of the product. Allow 24 hours of curing time before you apply additional coats. For best results, apply at least 3 coats of the Klasse SG. Laters.

Thanks for the response guys!! I have another question. Where can you get clay bars without ordering them from the internet? Do I really have to clay bar my car or can I just wash it then put AIO on?

after the car is more than a yr old(as Josiah was pointing too) claying at least once a yr is needed.in my case anyway...but each situation is different. there are people who have to clay their car the day they pick it up from the dealer......if you use that cellophane wrapper(little sandwich bag) test and your car doesnt have any rough spots then i`d say your ok...i didnt have to clay at all until my car was about 16 mths old...then i felt a couple of bumpy spots(not visible) on the rear bumper/drivers side front panel...i used the Claymagic and the Zaino clay....both were bought over the net so...i know ive seen the Mothers clay at Pep boys and Autozones...and strauss auto.....thats a popular brand here...

Thanks for all your comments...now a question. All of you say that I should have a 24 hour period between the SG. Do I have to wait 24 hours between the AIO and SG??

IMO, it depends on what you want AIO to do for you. If you`re using it by itself (which you are not) then apply AIO 2 coats wait 24 hours (or a week or two) then do 2 more and you finish will be awesome. In this sense AIO is used not only for cleansing but for applying the acrylic protection.



For your situation, you will be using SG, so your two work-ins of AIO are for cleansing and the added protection lies in the addition of SG to the AIO. After you let the AIO dry for 20 minutes or longer buff the haze off and just move on to the SG and let the coats of SG cure overnight or again apply on different weekends etc.

Well...spent about 7 hours washing, claying, AIO`ing, and SG`ing my truck. After claying, the surface is already mirror smooth. It`s incredible!!! After the AIO, it`s very very smooth and glossy. I put on SG an hour ago and I`ll let that cure overnight and wipe off the residue tomorrow morning. I can`t wait to see the results!! My $50 well spent!! :cool:

Lookin` good Billy! Great job! On the close up of the front fender, right in the foreground it looks like there is still some SG on the fender or the light is just shining on it funny.

Excellent work on Dad`s car too. That`s something that I bet he <strong class=`bbc`>really[/b] appreciated. :D
