I got an e-mail from someone at Formula 113 waxes- www.formula113.com inviting me to try their wax for free. I go the page where you can order the free samples, and shipping is $8! Somehow, that doesn`t seem free to me. Autoglym sent me absolutely free samples of their wax when I was a member of the Professional Detailers Association (I quit when the dues went to $80 a year-just not worth it when you have access to the internet).

Anyone ever try this stuff? They have a nice website, but I prefer independent confirmation.

If you were from the old forum, you`d know about good `ol MIKE PRISCO...or whatever his name was. He was the biggest prick to come to the forums...always trying to make converts out of everyone and have us switch over to his purple BeadX quick detailer and his Formula 113.

He has to be the worst salesperson/marketing person on earth. Anyone who is familair with his conduct on this forum would certainly NEVER recommend his products.

Me and Mike P are good buds:eek:

Formula 113 is the best i like to apply it with a steel wool pad;) If you don`t like 113 you can go to hell. JK

That was Mike on a good day.

Wow! I didn`t know any of the history, but he emailed me after I published the Zaino test and offered me a sample, which arrived today. I tried it on my spoiler.

It is a one-step product, which I don`t generally believe in anyway. I tried a little. Appears to use a combination of abrasives and solvents to clean, and polishes and fillers. Left some rubbing marks/fine scratches, I can do better with succession of the desired abrasive level and then abrasive-free wax/glaze/sealer/polymer/whatever. It wasn`t awful - but I can`t speak for longevity of course.

Thanks for the quick responses. It looks like my initial aprehension was correct. I am always hesitant to try any `free` product that I have to pay shipping on.

yea i remember ol` mike prisco could take flaming to new level. as best i remember everyone thought his products were good, it was just the way he was so pushy, well push is a major understatement. i remember he actually got to the point of physically threatening people on autopia. i was promised free samples twice, but they never showed up.

F113 provides a super glossy shine, but is loaded with abrasives and silicone oils. Mike has been banned from more than one board due to flaming, insulting, and spamming.

Try it if you wish, I think I will pass.

Mike sent me a bottle of Formula 113, a bottle of BeadX, some clay, and an applicator. Here`s my take:

The clay - Better than Meguiar`s (I`ve tried no other)

Formula 113 - It does make the finish look pretty good, but don`t expect a lot of protection (Meguiar`s #26 lasts longer)

BeadX - A very good qd, but there are comparable ones for less (I like Eagle One as well)

I put the F113 on my in-law`s `91 Lumina, which sees little attention. It really made it look much better, and it had a smooth, buttery feeling, shine. However, it only lasted a month or so on a car which is rarely driven and stays under a carport. When I washed the applicator, I noticed a strong kerosene like smell. I e-mailed Prisco about it, and never heard from him again. That`s been almost a year ago.

I won`t knock his product. It`s okay for what it is, but there are others that are as good or better. I still have more than half a bottle left.

M. Prisco was quite easily the most annoying, critical, spiteful and vulgar person ever to visit this forum. He even insulted a very respected member here and made critical sexual comments. Thanks goodness it was deleted before most members got a chance to read it. I will NEVER even consider buying anything associated from that person. Never!
