So my car came back from the body shop on Thursday. It looked great again. The areas that had been repainted were perfect. Friday I take it for a drive, then notice later some overspray all over the front. The apartment complex where I live had been repainting an apartment that morning. Crap!!

So now my new paintjob has some overspray. I can gently use a fingernail to lift it off and not scratch the paint. To remove it all by this method would take hours.

I washed the car Saturday and some of the overspray came off. I also started getting the rest of the car ready for winter, and used a Mother`s claybar on other surfaces. The clay got off a surprising amount of stuff (paint was rough). I then discovered more overspray on places like the trunklid that the clay was not getting off despite my best efforts. Due to the need to get on with life I used the P2s paintwork lotion, klass AIO, klass SG, and P2s carnuba wax on the surfaces I clayed and those parts of the are looking great again.

My questions are what to do with the overspray that won`t come off with the mother`s clay, and can I clay the part of the car that was just repainted?

hmm i would suggest something mildy abrasive like Meguiars clear coat body scrub. im sure lots of people here can suggest similar products from different brands... im not just familair with those yet.

as for claying after a paint job, u really ought to ask ur shop about that BEFORE u clayed... my friend just got a paint job a few weeks ago. she says that she was told not to clay for a whole year after a new coat of paint has been done. but shes not sure on that either; gona ask the shop tomorrow about it.

I didn`t clay the new paint, I started to clay the other parts of the car that are original paint. Perhaps I didnt` make that clear enough.

its ok if you dont wash ...wax or cover

the enviroment is not as harsh as our hands

things are neglected can still stand a chance to restored but not for things of abuse

I was very disheartern when i ask this professional gentleman, whom he just gave me some professional health care

but when i ask him, whether do u have aminute..he say no time ...where there is no customer...& more over he think i am trying to sell him something

I went off...shooking my head & decided to walk behind...snapping these pics & just sharing with u car lovers

do u know no exotic collector would like to buy a car being resprayed..only in our local mind set...``Boss new paint`` good loooking ma

but what is the real underline issue....do u ever wonder why newly painted

I also believe a routine & regiment of good maintainance will prolong yr paint life....ever wonder why car detailer existed?

k.c. you bring up several valid points. I too, have witnessed someone have a car entirely profesionally resprayed and not take proper care afterwards. Kinda makes you think..Whats the point :out:
