Detailed: Grand Cherokee Correction

Ok I actualyl only use quick detaling spray (Clear Pearl) after I have just washed my car (and dried of course) I use it basically to prolong the wax and add a little shine.



For myy supplies I only have a bottle of Clear Pearl and two Miracle towels. My question is, how is the best way to avoid streaks when QDing? Should one of my Miracle towels be damp with water and use it for applying the QD to the car and then use a dry one to buff it off?



What technique do you folks use?

Mist the surface lightly wait 30 seconds, and then wipe. When you start mist the miracle towel to start, and then you should be O.K.



It should only take about an ounce or less to do your car. If you use too much, you might get streaking.



Wash your miracle towels in a silicone, and softener free detergent. I use Tide free, but others use different brands.

spray a little on the mt, then spray some on the car, spread it evenly and then either turn over the towel to buff of until the streaks disappear or use a different one.

Also, QD`ing is much better done on a cool surface and helps avoid streaking.

To avoid streaking and smearing of the Clear Pearl, use a 100% cotton towel. I have tried and tried MF with the Clear Pearl, all types of MF, the Viper, Miracle Towel, Nicsand, etc, ALL smear. I have given up using MF other than to dry my door jams, trunk and hood openings. I know Steve says his MF work, I am not doubting him, I just find it hard to believe every other MF I tried has been disappointing with smearing, dragging and linting. I tried washing and drying them 3 times, tried them with a spray of Clear Pearl and also used them dry- nothing yields satisfactory results for me.

Maybe with cars that have Klasse AIO and SG, it works better, for me I used 3M IHG and One Grand Blitz and my car looks great however my cotton polishing cloths do a much better job with Clear Pearl. With Meguiars FI and Eagle One wipe and shine, MF are okay. It appears to be related to the wax in CP and Show Off that cause the MF to smear, streak and lint. I spent enough time experimenting so in order to finish up my bottles of Show Off and Clear Pearl and get decent results, it`s 100% cotton for me. Perhaps after I try AIO and SG, my results will be different;)

Miracle Towels are GREAT for quick detailing. Many of the original members of this forum use nothing but high qulity microfiber towels for quick detailing. And yes, Steve`s towels have proven to be great towels for me. I can`t understand how a few members continually seem to have problems using these great towels for quick detailing. I`m beginning to wonder how they use these towels and how much QD they use. I wish I could see these "problems" for myself. Laters.

I`ve said it before and I`ll say it again...but it was Don that first got me hooked on Miracle Towels about a year and a half ago. I use one exclusively for QD`ing and it works wonderfully. Thanks again Don.

This Grand Cherokee was booked in the fall. It was going on the used car market since the owner`s new vehicle was on it`s way in from Detroit. It was pretty clean but the paint`s condition was horrible. They have dogs and there was tons of nail scratches that required some multiple, compounding passes.

Interior was quite clean, just needing a touch up.

Detail Description:
Exterior restoration detail intended for the resale of the vehicle.

Goal:
To remove all possible paint defects and give an eye popping, deep finish.

Wash Cycle:
Dawn Wash (2 oz. per 2 gallons of water)...rinse.
then....
Meguiar`s Gold Class Wash...rinse.
Clayed using Meguiar`s Last touch 1:1

Paint Correction Phase 1:
Meguiar`s 105 via G110 using LC Orange 5.5" Polishing Pad utilizing the Kevin Brown Method.

Several passes had to be made on certain areas. The hood had several deep nail scratches but 105 did an amazing job.

A complete wipedown was done using Meguiar`s Detailer Line glass cleaner.


Paint Correction Phase 2:
Meguiar`s 205 via G110 using LC White 5.5" Polishing Pad utilizing the Kevin Brown Method

A complete wipedown was done using Meguiar`s Detailer Line glass cleaner.

Paint Gloss Enhancing Phase:
Meguiar`s D-151 via G110 using LC Black 5.5" Finishing Pad.

I noticed that 205 was taking out 105`s haze but leaving haze itself. This why I used this step. To simply "rouge" the paint and give a base layer of protection.

Paint Protection:
Meguiar`s #26 via the G110 and LC Red 6.5" Finessing pad

Since this vehicle was being sold, it was all about the gloss. Nothing sells better than a shiny, black ride!

Wheel Protection:
Meguiar`s Ultimate Quick Wax

Tire Protection:
Meguiar`s Endurance Tire Gel


Time accumulated:
6 hours

This was some of the worse scratching. It took a ton of pressure and 3 passes of 105.

But it was worth it!!! You can see that they were removed but some hazing was left. 205/D-151 took care of this.
