ONR Wash... 31 Degrees and Sunny.....

I friend of mine has been loyally using this wax on (2) of his vehicles, and I must say his paint looks pretty darn good. His vehicles are garaged year round and one of darker vehicles is a 1998 model with little evidence of any paint damage even in direct sunlight. I just purchased a can of this product and noticed that the paste was very oily and not as solid as most paste waxes. Is this common? And does anyone have an opinion of this product? I am currently using Blitz Wax, and I am very happy with it`s performance.

I have tried Meguiars Gold Class paste wax and it gives an excellent shine to your vehicle. Meguiars even offer a money back gurantee if you do not believe it has given your car the best shine of it`s life. I found the paste works noticably better than the liquid. It was my wax of choice before I came to this forum and thought Meguiars was the best out there. This is a great product for the novice detailer. It applies easily, smells good, and is not too hard to remove. It will give any car a good shine because it also has mild cleaners in it.

The big major downfall to this product is it only lasts about two weeks on your vehicle or until you wash it. If Meguiars could over come this problem I would rank it up there with some of the best like Blitz or Pinnacle.

I am sure many people will disagree with me on the shine factor but I got a lot of compliments using it on two different vehicles, red and black.

It does only last a few weeks though. It feels oily because it does contain some type of oil for shine. It`s a hybrid polymer, wax blend, I guess.



Some one on the corvette forum did a test, here is a pic. Notice how GREEN the grass looks in the pic on the zaino side. Could be do to lighting and camera angles as some will argue.....draw your own conclusions.

I`ve never been a big fan of the Meguiar`s Gold Class wax. I`ve noticed that it most certainly alters the color a bit, making it a bit more yellow. Very hard to notice but it does happen. I would have to agree that the Zaino side of DKs pic looks better. I can see the yellowing or slight greying with the Gold Class.

Yeah but for ten dollars, Gold Class is easy to apply, easy to wipe off, and it is a pretty good product for someone who does not have hours to apply a polish, then the protectant, then let it cure overnight and then buff off the next morning. This is for anyone who wants a great shine and does not want to mess with polishing, glazing, and then waxing.

There are many things that I really don`t like about the Gold Class wax. Another is the fact that this wax tends to bend light as it hits the paint. This causes swirls to be magnified. This has been discussed quite frequently on this board over the last two years or so. This is certainly not what you want in a wax. It`s durability is very poor. Any wax that is a polymer/carnauba blend is a real compromise. I remember the way Beau would describe this Gold Class wax. He referred to is as Pert shampoo/conditioner. Two products in one will never give you the same results as a single product that is specialized for one task. There are many better products than the Gold Class in my opinion. Laters.

One more thing. Which product would you allow to cure overnight and then buff out the following morning? Curing means how long you need to wait before you can effectively apply additional layers of something. It has NOTHING to do with leaving a certain wax, polymer, or other synthetic ON THE PAINT. Take Klasse for instance, you only need to let the product sit on your car for 20 minutes or so before you can buff it out. All carnaubas work this way as well. You don`t have to let them sit on the car overnight. For many, this would be a horrible idea as the buffing out would be somewhat difficult. Zaino is one that you can let sit for a few hours before you buff it out. But then again, you really only need to buff it out after the product dries. In some cases, it can be a very short period of time if you leave it on your car in the sun.

I meant to say dry and I was referring to Zaino. Zaino and Klasse are the best products out there for durability, just Meguiars Gold Class is a time saving economical option with good if not great results, even if it does not last long. Remember, Meguiars does offer a full money back guarantee if you do not believe that it gives the best shine on your vehicle.

I guess I would be getting my money back then quite often. That`s probably what I should do. I should buy different bottles of the Gold Class. I would then help out some friends detail their trucks, cars, etc.. and then call up Meguiars and tell them that I`ve gotten much better results from Klasse and Zaino. Then I would get my money back. Hmmm, maybe I`m on to something. I could detail many, many vehicles for free then.

Detailing is not at all important to some people and they look for the fastest and cheapest way for a decent or good result and this product does just that. That`s all I am saying. Sorry for any problem I may have caused.

Waxman, I think you`ve helped highlight one of my biggest flaws. I am too much into detailing. I am certainly not your average Joe and its good to be reminded of that as I may sometimes forget this. So thanks for reminding me to take it easy with other car care products that I may not really like. So thank you and no there was no problem. I couldn`t stand all that salt brine on my DD. Probably have to do it again tomorrow, but I don`t mind!!!!:cornut:

Washed with ONR, 2BM
Washed half on the "sunny" side, then dried that half with Absorber.
Turned car around, and repeated for the other side
Sprayed tires with Tire Foam... scrubbed with brush, rinsed with ONR
Wiped down entire car with Z6
Dressed tires with Chem Guys VRP
Washed Rubber floor mats with ONR and scrub brush... rinsed with ONR... air dried
