What`s up guy`s, this is my first visit to the site, been looking for one such as this. I am a total newbie to this detailing stuff, but I want to keep my ride looking nice. I wish I had known that Dawn strips wax from paint, that explains why my old pick up truck`s paint now looks like total crap! Here`s my question for yall, what is the best product/way to get rid of what appears to be the start of oxidation on my aluminum wheels?

Use a quality metal polish on your Al wheels, assuming that they are not clear coated.

Try Mothers Mag and Al wheel polish. If you rub it onto a small section of the wheel, the cloth should turn black and the Al should be smooth and shiny. If not, its clear coated and try a mild polish on it that says clear coat safe.

Then protect with a quality sealant such as Klasse or Zaino.

What do you plan to do to your paint to protect it, and your interior, and exterior rubber/vinyl??

Thanks for responding Jason, especially for the tip on how to determine if the wheels are clear coated. In regards to how I plan to take care of the paint, interior, rubber and vinyl components, I`m going to sit back a week or two, and keep reading this forum before I decide which way to go. Ziano, Klasse, etc., or all new to me. Today is the first time I`ve heard of either. I have checked out the prices on those items, they`re not cheap, so I want to be sure before I start making puchases. This is a great site, I`m glad I found it, and thanks for the welcome.

Cool, I am going to wait when CMA`s new sealant comes out to compare it to Zaino and see which one I will plunge for.

I have Klasse already and it provides great shine and protection.

Later,

Jason

PS They may be expensive, but the results are far superior, a small price to pay for a superior product, Pinnacle Souveran is an example of this, very good carnauba wax but worht every single penny of the $69.

Hey guys, sorry I haven`t posted in a LONG time, I have been CRAZY busy the last two months and just haven`t had the time to post-process all the pictures Ive taken. Well, Im getting back into the routine, I have over 20 cars I still need to post and more on the way! This car I am about to post really was an amazing machine. Ive always been a huge Porsche fan and the owner gave me the opportunity to drive this Turbo(well just say its no slouch even today! ;) ) This car is kept meticulously clean, washed regularly, only runs on race gas, etc. However, a majority of the paint was the original single stage Guards Red and was beginning to fade and had some surface scratches, rids, etc. I was really surprised how well it turned around and the owner was just blown away that his 1994 Porsche will now turn more heads than some of the new ones!

NOTE: Please forgive me on some of the photographs, my camera is about half broken so it doesn`t take the most consistent shots anymore. If anyone has a Nikon D3000, let me know how you like it!

Here you can see some of the swirling, very minor for the age of the paint.

After the wash, I began prepping the care by taping off any vulnerable edges or rubber moldings. I was having difficulties picking up the defects with my camera, although I performed 2-3 passes(some areas such as rear 1/4s required more work) with M105/PFW and followed with M205/Orange via DA for the correction work.
