K, we all know the story, my bran new AZTEK was keyed in the mall parking lot.:( My deductable isn`t that great so I am looking for a way to lessen the visibility of this scratch if at all possible. Is there a rubbing (wax) compound or something I can use? Any ideas? thanks.

3M Perfect it, 3M Finnesse it 2 or even 3M SMR would be good likely candidates. I listed them in order of most aggressive to least aggressive. And if you or anyone else you know owns a PC, then you`ll have a better chance of hiding these up a bit.

How deep is the scratch?

If its not through the clear, try 3M Perfect It II FineCut Rubbing Compound part #39002. If a lot, aorund 5 applications does not solve your problem, I may want to consult a reliable detailer.

If its through the paint into the primer or worse to the metal, then you may need to touch it up.

You may also want to try Eagle One Scratch Remover, if you don`t have any success with the poishes listed by Don.

Thanks for all your replies. Sounds like there might be hope left. To answer a question: The scratch appears not to be through the paint. (no primer or metal showing) But it is a pretty good scratch. (2.5` long) ...Don`t know if it has a clear coat or not. Thanks again.

In the words of our illustrious ex-pres...I feel your pain. I was keyed a few years back worse than what you describe. It cost me around $2000 vs. what I could have sold the truck for. They used a beer bottle cap, I think. Good luck. I would get it fixed asap, otherwise you will dwell on it each time you work on your car. Not healthy!

Take care of your new car and someone gets crazy and they decide to ruin it for you...nothing could be more disheartening.

I see new cars keyed all the time. Nice cars, cheap cars, the vandals don`t even seem to discriminate. Its pretty amazing this problem is so prevalent in this country. It is one of the reasons that I keep an "old" car that I am not overly-concerned about. It also makes me very paranoid to drive my "good" car which is kind of a shame. In fact, the good car never goes out of the garage unless I know where it is going to be parked and I am comfortable with the area. I am fearful of the vandals and door dingers. No one has gotten the car yet but I know its only a matter of time.

Aztek, hopefully your damage is limited just to the clear coat layer. If it is not, make sure you get it taken care of before the winter season sets in.

This is an older version of the SP 18V and it does have some wear on it but it is in good working order. Also have a full set of 7 inch Kompressor pads, purple to gold all brand new and never used. Six pads in all. All you need is a backing plate and you are all set.

I have the same rotary and it is an awesome machine. One of the reasons I bought this unit a few years ago was because of it`s lighter weight and substantial warranty - never had a single warranty issue.

Good luck, broker and someone`s getting a quality rotary right there.

I had 1 of those....Untill someone lifted it

Solid machine. That would look nice under a Christ-X tree

How much you want for the pads? Those are some of the most user freindly on the market 4 sure

My only concern would be the 1400 low RPM range. Seems awefully fast for the low end.

The new version of that same machine runs at 600 on speed 1.

Well, I can only speak for myself :w00t:

In the past whenever I had purchased a product that wasn`t the top of the line of said product. It didn`t take me long to wish I had gotten the upgraded version...It happens everytime :banghead:

The words Extra Strenght/Heavy Duty/Limited Edition are household words round here ;)

What are you looking for in trade. I have a full set of edge 6 inch pads, along with a few edge waffle foam 6 inch pads and 4 4 inch edge pads and 2 adapters for RO machines. All in all (8)6 inch pads (4)4 inch pads and (2)adapters, all with no or very little use. Also have some menzerna final polish II (probably 14oz in a 16oz bottle)
