While cleaning my car on Saturday, I noticed lots of little chips in the hood that I had never noticed before. I am not really sure how to approach this. I thought about using touch up paint, but I also know how this can look on a car. I even thought about getting the hood repainted. I was not sure if there were any techniques or products that might aid the "removal" and "masking" of this horrible atrocity. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Still waiting on my order of AIO and SG. Soon as I get the car done, I am posting my results. Hopefully it will be a emotional story that tugs at your detailing heart strings.

There is a whole article about paint chip repair and touch up repair.

I just have to gather up the supplies and try this myself on a rocked chipped hood of a camry (this is going to take forever with all the chips on that hood) and the MB Ml320, has about 3 rock chips on the truck.

Good luck and patience is the key,

are endless! Well you are right, patience will be the key to paint chip repairs. I have read that article before, and forgot all about it. Thanks. I will let you know how it goes.

Now I just have to go to the toyota dealership and pray they have factory paint.

I hear you on that! I have an `89 325i. I was thinking about getting the car repainted, until I found this web site. My prayers were answered! I wanted to restore the paint (which looks incredible for an `89). I got the entire job priced at around $1,500 for a re-paint using BMW paint (ouch). So looked to other means of breathing life into the old girl.

Well, now that the car is looking better than her first days on the road, all of those nasty little chips and scratches are visible. So now I must go over the car a bit at a time and fix the little nicks and scratches. I just hope that they have black that matches my paint. Good luck.

The camry is a 92. The paint is in very good shape. The hood and front fenders were repainted after a small accident a few years back, but they match perfectly, the owner had to point it out to me.

Well this car is beige so it hides swirls and scratches better than a black finish.

I am guessing around 75-100 chips from rocks on the hood, might take me a week tog et to all of them.

join the crowd...i drive over 100 miles a day on interstate and the chips on the hood and front bumper are getting worse.

i`m thinking about investing in the 3m film for it eventually
