Heya guys...

My car is pretty dirty and I won`t really have the time to get a "real" wash in until this weekend. I`d rather not wait that long, so I`m considering doing this:

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/quickdetailing.html (`http://www.autopia-carcare.com/quickdetailing.html`)

I`ve never done this before, but it seems logical...I`m just wondering if my car is too dirty for it. It`s not filthy, but it`s well beyond the scope of the Cali Car Duster. There are no bird bombs, no mud, nothing`s caked on...it`s just dirty. It`s only been a week since the last time I washed, but it rained, I`ve done a lot of driving, etc.

So, should I be alright, or just deal with it and do the real thing this weekend? I`m eager to try it, and I might even be able to do my wheels and tires tonight, but I don`t want to do anything that could turn out to be harmful...

Thanks,

Gary

If it`s beyond the scope of a Cali Car Duster, then it`s beyond quick detailing.

Totally agree with you Beau. If you haven`t washed, dusted or quick detailed your car in a week, then it would not be a good idea to use the California Duster or quick detailer this late in the game. You also mentioned that it rained. Easy answer then. I would just wash it.

when it rains and cant wash, I rinse with the hose. Then if I have time I`ll QD

under that scenario you mentioned, you MAKE the time to wash. It`s probably way too late to quick detail now. Sure, you can do it. But imagine all the minor swirling and scratching that could happen with a quick detailing after dust and rain on the car AFTER 7 days. Ouch! Wouldn`t do that to my car. So just wash it immediately.

Hey Don, luckily I have a drain in my garage, so I can wash my car at 2am without the neighbors thinkin` I`m nuts (though they probably aren`t up, anyway).

Hey Beau, you are one lucky guy. Hopefully, I`ll be able to build my home next year and that is definitely one feature that I do want in my garage. Can`t wait! By the way, I also tend to wash at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. in the morning when I absolutely have to. And yeah, my neighbors do in fact think I`m nuts.

I am stumped and wonder if one of you experts will know what kind of clear coat would be on this car?

That is NOT stainless steel; it is WHITE GOLD!

Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque. 0-100km/h in less than 2secs, 1/4 mile in 6.89 secs
running on biofuel.

It`s a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi oil billionaire. Which of course makes the idea that it runs on bio fuels really funny!

its kind of like these finishes:

the music sucks but you get the idea lol.

Im not sure if it is like what is above, im sure its not since you said that car has a white gold finish but you can get this instead to save a buck or two :D

http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mirrachrome/mirrachrome.htm

its called MirraChrome and it is a S.O.B it spray and get to lay down properly. I have read a few stories of people doing accent parts in that finish and it is no fun. I have no personal experience. Plus I have done 0 reading on even how to maintain it. So your guess is as good as mine :out:

Since this is gold plated do you suppose it is polished with the stuff the jeweler uses for my wife`s wedding ring, or do you suppose they break out some Meguires?? Maybe with a black LC pad??

at least the paint would not be hard to match if you had a fender bender.

For jewelry, they use Red Rouge that comes on a stick to polish.

There are various grades of these sticks to bring out the shine in almost all metals, I found some at Eastwood.com once.

Ref that M/Benz, talk about overkill ! Must be blinding to everyone on the highway in the sun.
