This may sound odd, but I keyed my own car. I was trying to close the door with my hand that had my keys. I closed it and the key scratched the upper part of the door frame by the window. It`s pretty deep. I tried using Eagle One Scratch Remover but it didn`t work. Could you suggest some things that I can do to remove the scratch or make it less noticable?

Is you`r car clearcoated? If so did the scratch go through the clearcoat? Try some 3M Perfect IT Fine Cut Rubbing Coumpound , this should help but if the scratch is to deep it may not be removeable only less noticable. After you use the coumpound thear will be a bit of an haze on the paint , this is normal , use the scratch revover to remove the haze. Wet sanding is allways an option , but if you don`t know what you`r doing you may caus more harm than good. I hope this helps.

Yeah... the car does have a clear coat. I just purchased the car a couple of months ago and I already scratched it :(. The scratch is pretty deep but I will try to use the 3M Perfect It to try and get the scratch out.

Can you catch your fingernail in it??? If so, I doubt that you can remove it, it will probably have to be painted. kindda blows goat nuts, but scratches and nicks happen.

Would you suggest Touch Up Paint at this point? I can catch it in my fingernail, it`s pretty deep. I was thinking about Touch Up Paint, but the people at Volvo said that it would look like white out cause it`s hard to match the color of the factory even though using the proper color code. You think it`s worth a try? I think having not matching paint is less noticiable than a scratch.

What colour is you car?

My car is "Midnight Metallic." It`s a special color from Volvo. It looks like a dark blue during the day and at night it looks black. I guess it`s half half.

did the scratch go thru the color into the primer?
If not, you might try building up the scratch with clear.

i`m not really sure what the primer is. i know the scratch went pretty deep though. i can feel it when i put my fingernail over the scratch.

my process was
PB SSR 1 on LC Orange
Klasse AIO on LC White
PB Black Hole Glaze LC Grey
Nattys Blue on LC blue
Wheels were done by Wheel Wax
Brake Calipers with Klasse AIO then Wheel Wax
Engine done with Purple Power then Stoner Trim Shine

Beautiful work on that Mustang !! I think they had 427 sideoilers back in the mid-late 60`s didnt they?
I have never thought of putting wax on the rotor itself - wont it come off first time you apply the brakes ?
