Hello all... I have been lurking around this forum for sometime and have found a treasure chest of knowledge.

I have a 2008 Roush 427R and am thinking about showing it for the first time.
Under the hood the bolt that holds the pulley for the supercharger is rusted up something awful. I was thinking I could take a Dremmel to it and knock it off unless someone has a better idea?

Thanks guys.

There are several things you can try. I can`t remember if these bolt heads are vertical or horizontal and that would make a difference to which method to try. Anyway here are a few:
1) Remove as much rust as you can mechanically with a small wire brush, steel wool or maybe some sandpaper.
2) Baking soda - make a paste put it on and let it set for a few minutes then use an old toothbrush so scrub.
3) Diet soda (especially Diet Coke), has phosphate in it and that will dissolve rust.
4) Naval Jelly. One of my favorites for stubborn rust. Follow label directions.

Good luck!

Once you get that junk off, hit it with some clear coat spray paint.Tape off the Belt/ Inner Pulley.

BTW, sounds like a sweet ride, can you post a pic?

I like Bondo Rust Remover from O`Reilly Auto Parts. Brush on (Jelly formula), let soak, rinse off. Dry with a towel. Spray with clearcoat.

Thanks for the tips.
Below is when I got it from the dealer, had extensive swirls and I got most of them out with PB SSR 2.5 and SSR 1.

I will take more pics when I get her ready to show... always seems to be dark by the time I`m done though.
