Another new site feature?

I received several (about a dozen) "LinkBack" notifications in my e-mail today. I didn`t initially pay any attention to the "LinkBack" term in the message and followed the link assuming it was a new post to a thread to which I had "subscribed". When there was no new post (and several of the threads dated as far back as `06), I returned to the message where I "read" the actual message.

My question...what is a "LinkBack" and what is it telling me? :confused:

Sorry, I was cleaning up some folders. Linkbacks are part of a software that is not being used but was holding alot of space in the database. I have disabled this feature.
