Here is a little history lesson about how Detail City got started. I won`t bore you with all of the details but will give you the shortened version.

Detail City was created in late 2002 by Dwayne McPeeks aka the same Dwayne that many of you know from our longtime sponsor Autogeek.net. Back in the day when I first met Dwayne he was a mobile detailer and we met in church. I had a bigger detailing rig than Dwayne did at that time. I had a Ford F150 compared to his Dodge Dakota and Dwayne was jealous! Just kidding! Dwayne came over and introduced himself before the service and we struck up a friendship.

We traded business cards and kept in touch. I was so busy with detailing and needed some help, called Dwayne and we started working together. Here`s a funny story. Long before there was Autopia or Detail City, in the infancy of the internet there was a popular detailing section on the Delphi Forums that I used to post on. One morning we were out detailing and making small talk and both realized that we had been posting on the forums and didn`t realize we were both in the same city. Now we are talking about 20-30 active members max on this forum from all over the country or even the world and here we are detailing together and realizing that we had spoke online. Considering that we had met in church, we had a feeling that God had his hand in this chance meeting.

As time went on, Dwayne received a job offer from our supplier, Four Star Products. Dwayne`s heart was into detailing and he encouraged me to take the job at Four Star as he wanted to take over my detailing business. I went to work for Four Star and Dwayne continued detailing.

About 6 months later, our roles reversed. The job that was offered is a sales position and Dwayne is a natural at that kind of thing. To speed up the story, Dwayne took the job at Four Star and I started detailing again.

So why am I telling you all of this? To sum it up, while working at Four Star, Dwayne would work during the day and then at night he was inspired to create websites. Out of this creative enthusiasm, Detail City was born.

Here are some links to view the evolution of Detail City over the years. Whether you are a new member or have been with us for a while, enjoy the trip with me down memory lane.

So with all this talk about Dwayne, you may be wondering how I got here. Dwayne befriended Max at PBMA/Autogeek a long time ago when Autogeek started sponsoring the Detail City. Back in 2005, Dwayne and I became business partners again and in 2006 he resigned from Detail City to follow his dreams and work for Autogeek.net. When he had the opportunity I told him he had to take it and I would continue running Detail City. It`s been almost 3 years since then and I`m truly thankful to all of the members that we have here that make Detail City such a cool forum. I also want to thank Dwayne for what he started and also to Max at PBMA and Steve at Poorboy`s World for being longtime sponsors and supporters.

Even though Detail City has been around a while, it feels like a fresh start and the best is yet to come.

Thanks for sharing that Troy, one thing that is consistence with this site, its always been very well run. One that I know my 13 year old son can look at with no reservation about what is posted. I can`t say that about all detail sites that I view.

Keep up the good work!!!
