I have a detail to do this weekend it is a bmw. The front rims are stained pretty bad looks like neglect of taking off the brake dust what is the best way to get it off and with what cleaners. They are niot chrome rims they look like factory painted rims.

Sounds like you need some PB spray & rinse and some good wheel brushes.

Those are anodized rims and then clear coated in most cases..the crappy part is brake dust if not cared for over time will etch the finish...in most cases clay can remove the spots you are seeing...if they are on the surface like small dots, then use some brake cleaner and a plastic scrapper...I have a plastic scrapper that looks like a thick credit card...

You want to polish those after with something like PB PP or the likes of that.
