You can learn a lot about people at the gas station.

Sitting in line at the gas station today got me shaking my head again. The wholesale club gas stations force you to pull in one way so many people will drag the pump hose across the trunk to fill the tank. It`s like nails on a chaulk board to me when I see it and today was particularly bad because there were two really nice Lexus that had the hose strung accross their trunks.

This reminded me how dumb people can be at the gas station. A short time back I was in a long line to get gas because people were scared of a storm coming. This couple in front of me were about the biggest inconsiderate morons I have seen. They were filling up both their cars at once and took their sweet time getting out and hunting for their gas cards all while on their cell phones. Then when their tanks were full they actually started rocking their cars and trying to "top off" their tanks. Both of them spent an extra couple of minutes doing this. The guy next to me looked at me and we both started laughing and shaking our heads. They are lucky we were patient people because any short fused person would have beat the crap out of them.

What`s the worst thing you have seen at a gas station?

The ones that let a bit of the gas spill out and run down the side of the car..and don`t do anything about it...then when their paint is cracking they come to a detailer to get it fixed...WRONG:eek:

Those people that think that squeegee is there to clean the whole car...true story...one AM I saw a woman using on the painted surface...she cleaned every window...water dripping all over the car...then starts to use it on the areas where the water was running down the sides of the car.

People that start the pump going then get back in the car and start talking on the phone...gas is done and they are still in the car talking..HELLO its done!!

I could go on!:D

My favorite is when someone`s car over heats. Then they think they`ll go and check under the hood to see where all the steam is coming from. After they figure it out, they come to the conclusion that they have to put water in it. Then whoosh a huge cloud of steam.

I have seen that so many times. A few yrs ago someone forgot about it and drove off and started a fire. I was waiting on another line to fill up and threw my truck in gear and haul out of there.

Year or so back I was filling up my car and a gal pulls into the stall next to me...get out starts filling up her car...no big deal...she reaches into her car and pulls out a lit cig:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I yelled over to put that thing out...she called me an assortment of names and didn`t...I put the handle back in the gas pump and jetted out of there...about the dumbest thing that I`ve seen in some time:huh:

I live in a small town and we only have one station. This summer a woman pulled in and said the red light is on.
The guy working looked and it was the oil light.
He had her shut it off and checked the oil.
Nothing showed on the stick and he ask her how long has the oil light been on and she said only 4 days.

Another good one was when this guy was changing the oil on his wifes car and he got it all done except adding the oil and he had to go to work. He worked second shift so he told her to be sure to fill it with oil before driving it.

She came into the station riding with a neighbor lady and bought a case of oil about 30 minutes later she was back and bought another case of oil.
When she was ready to leave she ask how much oil does my car hold.. They said 5 quarts with the filter.
She said her husband told her to fill it with oil before driving and she put in the 5 quarts that was by the car and then poured in the case of oil and she said I can look in the hole and it is not full yet.:rofl:rofl

Troy that was a great opportunity for you to give them a card and say you can buff that for them.:D

The best one was the guy who got upset with the attendant because he told him the wrong pump and some other guy got the gas and left. The first one was so upset that he pulled away from the pump W/O taking the nozzle out

1. It is illegal to pump your own gas here in Socialist Oregon. My main pet peeve is the attendant (read: moron) will usually unscrew the gas cap and set it on top of the pump. If you are unlucky enough to have a tethered gas cap (as I am), their favorite pasttime is to let it go at the highest possible point and let it slam into the paintwork with the most inertia. If you correct them on it, they will then get back at you by setting the pump to its slowest setting and ignoring you for five minutes after it has shut off. They will finally come back to you (a) when they feel like it or (b) to yell at you because you got tired of waiting and decided to hang it up yourself. I have never gotten to this point but I have nearly killed some of these `trained employees` for spilling gas down the side of my car. They just live for the day they get to threaten to call the cops on somebody. As my dad says, beware of small persons in positions of power. Hence, I always unscrew the cap myself and set it in the holder on the backside of the filler door. If that Vancouver, Washington gas wasn`t 30+ cents more expensive, I`d get my gas up there where I can pump it myself.

2. I was getting bento at my favorite local place and park next to a pearlescent orange Lamborghini Murcielago. Today I went back and one of the employees had spoken to him as he had come back earlier in the day. The guy mentions he wipes it down after each use. All I can think of? Dry scratches...:yikes:

During the new millenium new years 1999 - 2000, OMG! people just flocked to the gas station! The day before I just put gas in my old truck and YEA RIGHT! the world was going to end!

Then my neighbor when I first moved into my place, has the nerve to drive down to my house and tell me "Hey Mike, it might not be a bad idea to put some gas in your truck"
I just said, "Ok, I`ll be there in a minute"

Some people.

The other week I saw a guy that I know at the pump while I was in the store paying. When I walked out to say happy thanksgiving,he placed the nozzle back in the pump and turned around with a half smoked cigarette still burning in his mouth. I don`t think that self extinquishing safety cigarette paper will help in this situation. That is certainly the dumbest I have seen.

Speaking of stupid people like that, is there really any benefit to leaving your car run while your pumping gas? The pumps specifically state to turn your vehicle off before pumping gas but everyone around here does it. I never do it though.

I never do it though. The engine running while fueling is a serious fire risk and in some states maybe all it is Illegal
