10 Second Street car

I haven`t posted a detail in a while, and I finally did one that I was really excited about. I`ve posted this one on every forum that I visit, and I really love this car, so you guys get to see it too. :D Actually, every product I used is available through the sponsors of this board.

This car belongs to a close friend of mine. It`s by far the Coolest Fox body that I`ve ever seen. I say that because it puts down 500 hp and 500 ft/lbs to the wheels, yet is as streetable as a stock Mustang. The owner has done his best to keep the car looking stock while building something that he can drive to the track, race around all day and drive it home. It`s got a full Steeda suspension under it and has turned some pretty respectable times in a few autocross events, and has broken 10`s in the quarter mile at 127mph all in street trim (the 10 second pass had skinnies up front and slicks out back...but other than that, it was run exactly how it was DRIVEN to the track). My picture taking skills combined with the lighting didnt make for really impressive pictures, but I assure you the car came out nicely. It was dark by the time the car was finished and we got SNOW (yep, snow in GA) today, so the car was being left at the owner`s shop. Man, it is nice to have a rack to put the car up for polishing the low parts. The car was recently repainted in single stage red. This is the first time in a while that I didn`t use the rotary.

Here`s the process:
Clay with Claymagic blue
PB SSR2 via polishing pads (kept changing them as they kept turning red :D)
Optimum Poliseal via polishing pad
Pinnacle Souveran by hand

93 Cobra wheels. I didnt polish them or dress the tires, but I`ve always loved those wheels

I kinda like the 5.0 on the side, but this car really looks smooth w/o it IMO. I took this picture because I like to give him hell about the logos missing:

I am not a car guy but that certainly would be put in the category of a sleeper. That particular Ford never brings to mind 500 RW HP.

I know a game warden in south Ga. that has the same body style mustang,same color with a a turbo on it.I would swear I was looking at his car in the pics.

Yeah, that thing will definitely suprise ya. If you`re riding in it, and you`re driving normal down the street, you would think you`re in a mildly modded car with a louder exhaust on it, but when the pedal hits the floor, it just PULLS.

No game warden here. That`s cool that he`s got another red coupe like this one. I dont see many nice fox body cars anymore, and I rarely EVER see any coupes.

Fantastic job, looks better then new...you don`t see that body style around much any more. But I was always a fan and liked it better then the GT styling with all the ground effects.

Thanks guys. I am a big fan of the coupe as well. The paint is about 10 months old, and it is a single stage paint job. It`s got a few nicks and chips from drag racing (they`re mostly concentrated around the rear tire...from burnouts at the track) but for the most part, the car is as close to perfect as a car that is actually driven. It hasnt been a DD for quite some time, but it used to be.

None of the lights were polished as he has a "good set" and a "not quite as good, but obviously not TERRIBLE" set. The "good set" is waiting to go on the car.

There are pics on the net elsewhere of this car getting it done at the track, but I dont know of any videos. I dont have the equipment to take them either. Bummer too, because videos are cool.
