I was wondering what is the most agressive clay bar? Is it the purple kind or is there something stronger. I have a truck to do and there is imbedded brake dust all over the paint. The gray and blue clay isn`t getting the job done.

The purple is about as aggressive as it gets...you said embbed, clay is designed to lift surface contaminants, so I`m wondering if that is not the right process....a good paint cleaner might be a better choice...more chemical based to help disolve them...

Can you feel these on the surface or are they as you said embbed into the clear?

I can feel them on the surface. The whole truck feels like 1500 grit sandpaper. It is from word down brake pads I think because the front rims were rusty and when I attempted to clay the fallout that was comming off the surface was rusty in color. I`ll try a paint cleaner.

I know this doesn`t help today but in cases like yours and many others I use this

Finish Kare FK1 1119 / 883 Paint Decontamination System (http://www.fk1usa.com/decontamination.htm)

Its a decontamination product designed to dissolve what is on the surface and below..

You might try some lacquer thinner in a small area and see if that lifts the rusty areas...its very aggressive on the paint but can help in most cases...wash right after to lift residue

I can tell you what I think....i use it on cars that I know require a lot of clay work or single stage paints, were this is a lot of oxidadtion and or abuse of the clear coat ...its a four stage process....quite lengthy but leaves the finish super clean...what I like about it is you get everything clean on the car at once....windows, rubbers, etc...

it requires four separate buckets and mitts they do not want you to mix one step with the others in the same bucket or use the same mitt from one to the next.

I think that its somewhat expensive but on those cars that are really bad or have something embbed into the finish its a time saver and in some cases removes what clay will not
